A thought regarding the ERP issue

somebody who courts children.

EDIT: because people were getting banned for calling these people the other word.

Got banned for using Lilysomebody who courts children.

People like to rag on campaigning against ERP, but it has genuinely worked. when I joined AD the majority opinion was more of a “Just don’t do it in public :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Whereas now you see more an more guilds with a strict No ERP rule.

This can be both because most people have first hand experience with seeing a guild fall to ERP drama.
And the few remaining just appear embarrassing.

This is what I mean that when we make allowances for it as ‘just consenting adults having fun’ it creates an environment where those same adults having fun think we all want to be involved, and feel much bolder about becoming more open and public with it.

Get it! Thanks for explaining, good un-bannable cover up word

Well it was until the mods caught up, they know what it means now and I heard you can be given a month suspension if you call someone a Jade witch.

it was until Blizz started banning people for using that too!

Jeez… talk about banning people for all the wrong reasons

They need to reorganize it if you ask me.
You now have Game masters and “Community mangers” which in many cases are nothing but an oxymoron as the most of the community’s issues happen ingame which is beyond their reach and they can only pass it on.

Have fun managing a fort you aren’t allowed to enter.

Netease knows a guy

but also

Which is

Its their given right to try to stop something that is against the rules.

There is Charlie Hunts and Cousin Kyles all over WoW, no wonder I avoid Goldshire.

Cockney slang lads.

I know right?!

It’s a reference to the very same thing, except there are negative connotations related to that player in particular.

This is whats “funny” to me. They seem quick to ban people in forums, but not in game?

It’s hilarious in a twisted way

One is fairly public facing and will come up in Google searches. The other does not.

Well, yes, I am. Look, I get it that we don’t want to always think about things that are making stuff we like actually really suck, and I’m not saying you have a duty to report, or work against ERPers. If you’d prefer to ignore it or overlook it and focus on your own things, then that’s what you can do.
I also reckon, however, if you are choosing to ignore the issue then you probably shouldn’t say how we need to stop ignoring the issue to make changes.
It’s not us that needs telling…

Just ban people for foul language. Cursing IC is bdrp anyways.

Bannable if you call it certain people. Hell, I got a ban for calling the second jade witch a troll lmao. The original jade witch lingers in the horde however. So much for chasing him off :frowning:

it was also just completely out of the blue.

I’d never interacted with that person.

Its unacceptable anyway, but if they are whispering anybody, then they could be whipsering somebody who is vulnerable.

If people want to embarrass themselves in public… well, their choice? x)

Strict ERP rule and “dont do it in public” are like double edged sword. Again, if some people have their chars romantically involved and they want to apply that sexual side to their RP, strict RP rule might be too much. Although such people could easily drag that on let’s say discord… as well as some malicious child-grooming pervs could if Blizz was strict like this.
What strict ERP rule is good for, you can send a clear message you dont want your guild to become a brothel so ERP folks should just skip it.

Don’t do it in public is better in that sense but doesn’t send a clear message as children could still be pulled into ERP scenes. But less people would be bothered by seeing ERP in open world. And that rule can also be interpreted differently unless clarified if it’s instances/garrisons or is a cave or bush in a zone where people rarely RP is private enough.
