Posting this here because I just managed to kill Vik’tis at 557 on Tier 8 and very proud of it. The tactic worked once I figured out the range of his Swarm.
To those who haven’t tried the Dread Pit yet: the final boss has a skill called Stinging Swarm that will annihilate you unless you burn your defensives. Sadly, given that he casts it on roughly a 30-40 second rotation there’s no chance to survive for long unless you’re geared enough.
What worked for me is:
Highlight Lurch.
Enter the boss arena and draw him towards the far side of the arena, that little cliffside.
Fight him purely in this location, kite him along cliffside during the Burrow.
He emerges and casts Impale, at this point walk through him before he’s done casting to avoid it.
He’ll cast Stinging Swarm a couple/several seconds later. Once you see it charging, use your mobility skills to make your way back towards Lurch. I can’t speak for other classes, but Heroic Leap’s max range + around 5 yards was enough to escape the range of his Swarm attack.
Rinse and repeat, and you’ll have 603 gear in no time. Good luck Delvers!
