I am also sorrowed it turned out to be like this. With that said, there is nothing left but grouping up and raiding.
The good thing is that we can compete it with even semi-decent gear from the current patch, so I don’t think it would be a problem.
So, is anyone up for some transmog raiding? 
Since the mythic version is not available, because most of the pieces for priest are only unlockable via the catalyst, im out.
My guess is that it will be fixed when the fated raids are coming back. They have to fix it until then or even more people will be upset.

Well, the only way is to keep pressing Blizzard to do something regarding that matter. I am sorrowed to see that some pieces are completely out of reach
Same, i would like to get the full mythic set on my priest. But that is actually impossible right now because 4 pieces only are available via the catalyst which is not working as intended…

At this moment, I am personally willing to try doing the mythic version at ilvl 450 and see how many times we wipe
Since i want the mythic version on my priest it is not possible to get the whole set at this moment.
For example cloak and helmet are only unlockable via the catalyst since they dont drop directly from the raid.
And for myself, i dont have the skill/knowledge to do mythic raiding at this point.

Well, there is nothing preventing you from trying. There are videos on YouTube how to deal with every boss. With some luck, we can assemble a raiding group that would go there on a weekly basis to get the transmog.
I will personally go on my warrior, demon hunter and death knight as a tank and see how things go
The thing is I don’t know if anyone tried it with Aberrus raid gear as it stands. Open world gear got updated to season 3 upgrade tracks so I’m not surprised it’s bugged, and of course people notice that immediately, but I don’t know if anyone tried to catalize Aberrus raid gear.
Actually not true, definitely not true for the helmet because it’s part of the set bonus, so the item for the head piece (X Melting Fluid, name depends on the class) drops from Magmorax. As far as mythic priest cloak, well it shares its appearance with Voice of a Silent Star, and you can farm that on all difficulties. One might say you’d be crazy to even try before you can solo the raid considering the low drop chance and availability to all classes though.

However, there are videos on YouTube that explain tactics for each and every boss in the raid for every difficulty.
I am quite confident that completing the run on mythic would be a piece of cake with item level of 450 and over.
So, don’t give up hope, when there is the will, there is the way
The issue still exists with the priest belt. The only way to get the mythic belt apperance for priests is throught the catalyst, and since that one is bugged it is not possible to get the entire set in mythic tint at this point of time, what seems nuts for me

my cape turned into normal but the rest was lfr which was ok for me since i didnt collect it

Sorry to ask, I just came back from a very long break and this thread got my attention.
So if I get this right, during this expansion you could enhance new zone gear and it would unlock tmogs from the previous raid tier (up to heroic), is that correct ?

No.
Most of the gear you’ll loot will be convertible into Amirdrassil tier set (the tint you get depends of the ilvl of your gear… that you can upgrade to unlock even more tints).
We’re talking here about the gear you can get from Time Rift and Dream Surge events (it’s pre-10.2) and that can be converted into Aberrus gear. However, there’s a current bug : whatever the ilvl of your gear is, you’ll only be able to get the LFR tint.

And we are still waiting for the fix of that bug. However, it is not among the top priorities for Blizzard, which is rather unfortunate
