After the patch day, almost a week ago, I tried checking out getting the Aberrus tier set via Revival Catalyst. Apparently, all that I am getting is LFT “tint” of the tier set.
Is there any chance I can get the normal tint or the heroic one, just like in 10.1, where we could get the VotI normal and HC tints by using the catalyst on the gear we got from Forbidden Reach? Or is the only way to get the tier pieces is doing Aberrus normal and heroic?
I’m confused not a bit to be honest.
Before 10.2, there was two Dreamsurge gears:
When the 10.2 hit the live, the Dreamsurge gear was updated to ilvl415 and ilvl42x. Both of them were converted to Normal Gear, but I was able to do that until Sunday. I tried it on Tuesday (just before S3 start), but now the ilvl415 gives RF gear with the revival catalyst. Even If I updated the weekly DS Gear to ilvl444, the catalyst still says that the appearance is already collected.
That’s what I find kinda annoying.
Before 10.1, we had the catch-up gear that could be transformed into Normal tint and Heroic tint by using Catalyst. Now all we get is LFR tint no matter how much we upgrade the iLVL.
I agree with you, it’s kinda confusing and frustrating because we will have to go into the raid no one goes into and pray for the mercy of RNG
I also notice that upgrading the Dreamsurge gear doesn’t unlock higher level appearances.
I’ve no issue with base line gear giving the baseline appearance though.
Yes I had a huge discussion on the forums with others about this last week. We had hoped this week would fix it but now it made it worse. I sincerely hope it’s a bug.
Yeah it is a bit annoying. I am only missing the chest appearance of the heroic set. I tried it last week with the weekly dreamsurge and rift item. But nope.
I hope that it will be easier to get the LFR tier looks because ironically these become the hardest to get due to LFR availability issues and Blizzard cracking down on needing for transmog.
So for LFR it is working with the current DS Tokens.

This is the case with my DH and DK. I was focusing on my healers and barely had time for my other toons.
I sincerely hope some solution will be found. I really have no intention of praying to the gods of RNG that my gear will finally drop
Still trying to figure out how to unlock the mythic tint from Aberrus on my mage through the revival catalyst. It’s just odd they made room for us to unlock aberrus appearance with dreamsurge/time rift event past 10.1 but somehow locked the whole thing for no reason
I was farming those tmog hard and I was a finger away to unlock it before the season end, very frustrating
Is it even intended or is it a bug?
I think they only way we may hear about this is if people start reporting it as a bug.

I feel you. I started the previous season pretty late in the only goal to unlock the tmog. I still spent weeks trying to have a hero proc and progress my ilvl up to 441 to unlock the mythic tint… in vain.
Having my current game goal blocked like that is desperatly frustrating
I know exactly how you feel. I barely managed to get the mytic tints on my mains (Paladin and Druid), Heroic on my Monk (way better than the mytic tint on his set), and I was three and four items away from getting the heroic tints on DK and DH respectively when the patch hit. After that, I also hit a brick wall.
I hope this inconvenient problem will be resolved, or at least clarified in the foreseeable future
Any news since the weekly maintenance has ended? I’ve not been able to try it yet, I haven’t enough flight stones…
I tried with a ilvl421 Head Piece, but I got the LFR tint only 
Previously I wrote a ticket, and they said they know about it, and will be fixed. I guess it is very low priority, because not a game blocker

I really hope that they will fix it this year, i really want to grind for the mythic tint via dream surge gear…
Even if they don’t fix it, I hope they will make it at least not too dependent on RNG. At this moment, I just want to avoid the tedious grind to get the gear I want.
