After the recent overhaul about shadow priest, look up preach video if you wanna understand more about this, the one thing that stuck with me the most as a good thing, is having an or a few abilities that are off the gcd, that you can use during something else.
That sounds really damn interesting. Imagine if during fists of fury for example, you could use other abilities during it, like blackout or rising sun kick, wouldn’t that be cool?
Anyway i think they should take this design to other specs also. For example, elemental shaman lava bursts.
Anyway, this clearly shows that blizzard can do good spec design, if they really put their minds to it. So please, just do it.
This would also help with cds being on the gcd, what also would help is having the cd button press do something, like what they did with blade flurry. I would still rather have them off the gcd though.
Also this isn’t a new idea, it was first implemented in MoP with the monk Soothing Mist. Don’t remember why it was removed/changed and makes me wonder how will it be different this time.
No, it doesn’t prove anything. You have no idea how it plays, you just saw it on a youtube video and jumped to the conclusion that it’s “good spec design”, whatever that means.
Mmm kay. You talk as if i have never played a game with abilities off the gcd. I really like the sound of it because i already tried it, and it feels good.
But honestly, i’m not gonna waste too much time arguing with people where everytime you bring up something they act like they absolutely have to disprove it, or say the contrary about how it’s not a good thing.
Well, you are wrong. i think having one of even a few abilities off the gcd is great, like how fire blast works for fire mage, or the new priest mind blast.
Mmm, interestingly enough they both end with blast, what a coincidence.
I can’t imagine how it would work to rapidly throw punches at your enemy and suddenly doing a backflip kick during the attack.
For casters it would seem strange, as most casts require the caster to use both hands during it.
Afflis drain with their spells, so using DoTs during the channel would also seem strange.
The only other spec where I could see this work would be Arcane mage using a mirror image to cast an AB during Arcane Missiles.
But on the other hand with MW monks, fire mages and now Spriests we will have 3 different classes with this option.
But I agree that CDs should get a second component that does something. If atleast frost mages’ CD had some cool animation, but it’s just ‘cast spells a bit faster’
Ability weaving like this is unique to certain specs. The most known class to do this being Fire mage.
It isn’t a GCD thing, it’s a caster thing. It suck suck sucks having to interrupt your casts because of a proc triggers in the middle of it.
That is what happened with SPriest, it wasn’t to fix GCD, it actually has nothing to do with the GCD issues.
It was to make it so SPriests don’t need to interrupt their channel after one or two ticks to fire of an RNG proc instant mind blast.
I do realize that, i just think it’s a pretty cool idea.
Anyway, new shadow is looking good.
But there are a lot of things they could do to make specs better.
Just a few examples, fix the fingers of frost and brain freeze proc problem, so you do not waste a proc, arcane mage missile cleave for aoe, and revert the spec back to legion, lava burst proc off the gcd like mind blast would be really nice.
Artifact abilities back for every class, and baseline… new talent row, or more abilities that were introduced in the last few expansion baseline. Example, dance of chi ji, which is a talent in shadowlands and it pisses me off that it is.
A lot more could be said, but it would take too long.
