Ability lag (input?) Feels unresponsive

Hello,

I’ve been having trouble with what I think is input lag. It’s hard to describe but it feels like abilities are not responsive when I press them. The GCD cooldown timer also feels inaccurate as sometimes abilities will go off before or after I see the reset. This was so bad with fury warrior that I stopped playing it and started gearing my rogue a few weeks back.

I’m a bit of a button masher so not sure if this is the problem but during things like heroism/lust it almost feels as if I’m pressing 1 spell ahead of my actual cast.

What I’ve tried

  • /console cvar_default
  • Spell queue window between 100 and 400. Currently at 250.
  • Turn off Vsync, Tripple buffering, turn off max foreground FPS, turn off optimize network for speed (all things I read can help with reducing input lag)
  • Updating, removing and playing with no addons
  • Switching between dx11 and dx12 (dx12 feels a lot worse)
  • Fresh windows install, WoW install, driver updates etc.

FPS wise I tend to get between 70-100fps depending on the zone/amount of people. I play 2560x1440 with my monitor at 144hz.

Please help it makes me not want to play

edit: It seems links are not allowed… but I took a video just now, not the best example but around 6-7 seconds you can kind of see what I’m talking about. Is it just animations making it feel bad?

not your fault m8, blizzard servers has been incredible laggy since 9.1 especially in the maw, korthia, daily emissary zones: the moment u step outside shadowlands zones everything is fine again… been really thinking if its even worth playing wow anymore

I mean these days it’s almost a given in the more populated end game world zones… it’s like the sad expected norm. However, I get this inside raids too where it leaves me feeling incredibly disappointed and unmotivated to play.

My rogue is parsing between 70-80 for ilvl so maybe it’s an issue everyone has? Still, feels dreadful to play.
