I have many Death Knights and Demon Hunters across different realms - mostly have them to see how things are with factions, races, in-game “choices” etc. And Starter Maps and their Questlines are a chore, not an epic opening at this point.
If an account already has a Hero Class character that has already finished the Starting Questline and went into the world, then it should be granted an option to skip to the end with gear that whatever specialisation they choose to have.
Give people the option to skip or ignore this option to re-live the very timeline compliant memory that will end up with you teleporting to your capital a decade later, still being thrown rotten tomatoes and still with the quest NPC making very little sense with the questline in that specific timeline.
An alternative would be reworking these hero class starter points, and I very much dread the day someone will have this brilliant idea and have executive powers - but until that day, rolling a Hero Class character is a chore. Especially the Death Knight with Light’s Hope event - which is an archaic design with exceptionally boring lines at the end. You can legitimately park your character for ten minutes at the right spot and go about your business.
I also want to note that the Light’s Hope Chapel Event is also not an ideal event design for newcomers as well. So should there be a rework someday, while it should mostly work on timeline problems when going back to the world, it should revamp the horrible design choices with this already boring event. But that’s another story.
Oh please yes. I just made a DK, a gnome lady DK which meant I would have had to do the stupid DK intro for possible the 20th time. Yes, I did make a lot of DK’s in the past.
I used my unused DF boost on her just to not have to do that. I just…I couldn’t. Not again. NEVER again.
You are forced to do the DH and DK intro’s every single time unless you play an ally race (DK only), then you start at lvl 10 instead of 8, get a super short quest and off you go to your respective main city. If you play a base race you will always have to do the entire DK intro.
I’ve done exile’s reach 25+ times, not even joking. I am sick of it x)
I’ve just made a little gnome warlock because my other one is on a server I no longer play. When I was given the choice where to start I actually chose the gnome starting area instead of Exile’s reach. Yes it takes longer but…at least I haven’t done that over two dozen times already! Maybe like 4 or 5.
You’re welcome. It’s really no trouble if you do the intro for both twice, maybe three times, but more than that? It becomes such a pain in the booty as its so repetitive (and unnecessarily long!)
You’re welcome! You’re in luck, they lowered the grind to unlock the allied races a lot so it doesn’t take forever anymore. In addition of skipping the DK and DH intros, allied races always start at lvl 10, so they skip the starter towns/Exile’s reach as well!
