The problem with all the faction stuff is that the system is flawed as long as we players are part of the factions.
It the a faction conflict story can’t do anything meaningful without the player base of the faction that needs to take a hit for the story feeling bad?
Did it feel good to loose the tree? Or dark shore?
It’s feels wrong when your side looses a member or a zone cause the ear story needs things being done.
Make us mercenaries that work for both factions and then let them have real conflict.
Then they can kill leaders destroy city concer city’s and zones all the time and the world can reflect the wins and losses caus it is no “well to bad we needed plot so you loose lol” to one side
I agree, that probably would be the least painful way to end grievances about either of the sides by making it separate from players. On the other hand players already got so used to being part of certain faction on their character, and for example I want to feel that my chosen faction is still meaningful and has that faction pride. But that needs good writing, which blizz seems to have lack of
Now after pointing out problems, I would like to suggest some form of solution to points above:
This is closely tied to community faction reception but maybe decent story in point 4 might help. I am not sure about others, but I always viewed alliance as the pillar of all moral values at it’s highest, where they reach most of the goals via diplomacy, building friendships and such and defending the wee ones and protecting lives of citizens in all of their land
They had quite of leftovers from bfa to implement in the game (like stromgarde, which they were able to put even in plunderstorm event but not in actual game). Then something like gnomeregan finally could be retaken, darkshore being cleaned from opposite faction presence if by story alliance took it back. But this requires devs actually doing a lot of work in this regard, which might consume a lot of time resource which could be spent on something like new expacs, but who said new expacs can’t have some old world revamp, like hopefully in midnight it will span from arathi to quel danas isles, so probably some of my territorial wishes for alliance might be fulfilled by the midnight. And also in general even though alliance should have imo high values and so they can’t conquest new lands, but they can forge agreements and strengthen relations with every new nation and land they discover and then in order to protect new allies/friends or the parts of the zones they want to have influence in, there they can build all these shiny castles with high walls and cannons to protect against any attack.
This was pretty much addressed by blizz already, just took them too long
Here I would like to bring how I see alliance, someone can easily disagree, but in my view alliance should have highest morals and strive for all good, and we should have strong king who would protect all these values and if needed strike. Even though now alliance dropped in that morally grey area, they can try to recover it to finally admitting all these crimes from the past: put Jaina on a trial and in jail, address Taurajo, and then for any future actions take full responsibility if they went too far. Then about elves, I don’t ask blood elves change allegiance or whatever it is already done story from TBC, what would be here maybe better if first they develop void elven storyilne to a solid one, where they also get a proper representation and hopefully after midnight they will truly be able to fully be in control of the void, so that would be crazy power back up for whole alliance. And then we had also some “high elven” settlements in hinterlands, and high elves in dalaran, maybe they can all unite under one banner with void elves, and then built city somewhere to the south of ghostlands. Also might be interesting if they were be able to be druids for instance, because they choose to live closer to nature, but it is different story for another day.
And speaking of horde part of the game, if we would have all good alliance with highest morals, then let be horde being something in the middle or they have somewhat similar values, but they are more aggressive in achieving their goals or they have other ways to achieve what they want. Tbh I barely can imagine horde with best morals. Probably here would come another problem, if we make one faction being true good guys, when what is about other faction, that spot is already taken so they need to be a villain of some sorts, and nobody wants to play villains, although it would be somewhat interesting, because almost no game does it.
So at the end of the day I would like strong identities for each faction, where each faction has something in it which catches your eye and feel. So this was my view for alliance how it could be, have no idea what horde should be
It’s about getting rid of gallywix who treats all the goblins like trash.
It’s a liberation story it would be super weird and out of places for gazlow to temper with that to get something out of it for the horde.
Blizzard had no problem forcing all the alliance heroes on us during the first half of TWW so I can’t see here why we can’t involve the Horde now a bit. Feels unfair don’t you think? Say what you want about Gallywix but he was able to cut many good deals for Sylvanas from the Azerite to an army of mechas to defend Orgrimmar.
“Well maybe we won the war and get all the screentime in every cutscenes since BFA but we weren’t allowed to completley grind the Horde into the dust so we are obviously the victims here!”
Do you want them to put random horse characters into undermine that don’t fit just so there are more of them?
I mean technically a bunch of the bilgewater goblins are horde.
We had only fitting alliance characters in season 1.
We had aleria who is tied to the whole xalatath plot.
We had anduin who is like the major alliance guy and he fitted into two whole arathi stuff.
And then we had the bronzebeard family who fitted since they are dwarfs wich connects them to the earthen plus one of them was the speaker.
Would I like more horde characters? Yes.
Do I want them to be just thrown at the screen just to fullfil some quota? Nope
Earthen aren’t dwarfs. And they are playable on both sides. Yet our guides are Moira, Magni and Dagran. I want to feel my team has SOME involvement. It is only Thrall as Token and Gazlowe cuz goblins.
well, then tell when did the alliance win in cata…
Or Mop…
Its was in BOTH ocasis very Hprde centrik, heck tehy madi Thrall the MC of the expansion and of 2 books, he got his name Green jesus because of this
and tbh, the dwaf dindt get that much screentime, espeacily Moira, and tbh its good to see that Daragn is now grown up…after like 10 year bering in a Crib.
yes…
are not all automatically part of the horde?
ok, he fit but tbh, after he got precius so much focus they coud let him be. problem is- who woud the fill the gap?
shwan is his colueg and friend (ans supeiror) and allaeira as Luzy siad being interagl part of the xalàtah story, you cant let her out.
You tore down the gates of Orgrimmar and defeated Garrosh.
That was balancing to make up the fact the alliance had double the amount of starting zones.
second most popular alliance race after night elves.
after Shadowlands was all about Tyrande and BFA all about Saurfang? Totally.
Yes Gazlowe talked about a contract issue but he will speak to the Horde council what to make with the goblins who never left Undermine when the rest fled from Kezan.
We aren’t short on human priests really.
There is such a thing as overfocus and I remember yourself complaining when Sylvanas got some attention back in Shadowlands despite her being the villain.
When the story concluded. You people aren’t seriously gonna stand here and cry Horde bias after 3 consecutive expansions where the Horde has been pretty much removed from the story.
ist wasnt teh alliance alone, the horde rebels help (sine we needed then, and they needes us)
and let one sinde wind zeh whole expansion isnt very onesides (and perhabs bias)
doubt
and btw then tell, me, wehn did the dwards had the last time screentime?
yes, i remmber , anr your were right that i complaind, i gave you taht point
.
but then rember, ctaas was for example also cenetr around thrall, ingame as well the books, he were basicly intergal for the story.
dindt remmber the death of deathwing were an allaince victory
Or the end of SoO since we leav and let the horde be (ans since the allaince dint take OG allone down, like above, it was with help of the horde rebels)
