About Mount Farming

Hi Folks

I was wondering the best ways to farm old expansion mounts. I want mounts new good mounts but I cannot manage. I am wondering about the best ways to get the mounts you want in the game. Hope you can direct me and ease the pain of not getting a mount after 10 20 runs on different characters. So basically wondering about your weekly tries to farm the desired mount. Would it kill blizzard to increase the drop rates or give us a way to get mounts we want easily. Also ı wonder this would make the game much more enjoyable getting what you want in the end. Too much grind is too much . Thanks hope

You can give us the best mount farming conditions or guidance.

I prefer to farm a targetted handful at a time. Or I’d burn out. But it very much depends on how you want to approach the content.

Have you checked out the mounts you can get doing Legion Remix? Do any of those take your fancy. You just grind currency (bronze) and buy most.

how long would it take to get 100 k bronze currency needing mount? If it doesn’t take too long it might be doable. Still ty for telling me to target a few of them at one time or I was gonna burn out soon. Ty any nice addons you can recommend?

As I look at your collection, it’s not clear to me what exactly you are aimimg for? Are you just looking to rack up the numbers, or do you want “nice” mounts, for some definition of “nice”?

Or are you not clear where all the mounts are, and you’re just pursuing a few that you know?

You are missing a lot of mounts that are very very easy. For example, you have the Twilight Drake, but not the Black Drake, which is a guaranteed drop from the same achievement as Twilight Drake, but on 10-man, and that you could pick up in 5 minutes right now. Is that because you don’t want the Black (I agree the Twilight is cooler!) or because you didn’t know to look for it? Me personally, I know there’s a bunch of rep mounts I could buy, but I never bothered. I have enough Talbuks!

You have been playing for a long time, so you must know about the Netherwing mounts, but you don’t have any?

You have at least four, probably five, characters that are capable of farming, so that’s good.

Let me suggest some resources, but do please respond if you want more targeted suggestions.

First, here is your character’s Mounts page at SimpleArmory

https://simplearmory.com/#/eu/kazzak/%20nomnar%20/collectable/mounts

A lot of people find that site useful for seeing what they don’t have.

Then there are guides that list mounts, and how to get them. Have a look at this one, which promises 180 easy mounts in a DAY:

https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/news/easy-mounts-how-to-get-almost-180-in-a-day/

with the accompanying YouTube video

Personally, I would be very sore after sitting for long enough to get even 100 mounts in a day, but you can spread it over longer, I’m sure.

This is the great-grandaddy of all mount collection guides:

Like Punyelf above, I always found it more sanity-preserving to concentrate on farming 10 or 20 mounts at a time, each week, once past the easy ones. I felt less bad about not getting taid mounts, because I was collecting the transmog sets for each at the same time. But some of them did take a while - almost 300 attempts for Ji-Kun.

And then there’s rep. There’s no doubt that some rep grinds are looong, even for an overpowered max level character, but all you can do is pick a set to start, and make some progress every day. I definitely feel my WInterspring Frostsaber was worth the grind!

So my suggestion is:

  1. Bookmark that SimpleArmory page
  2. Work your way through that 150+ quick mount YouTube video
  3. Make a list of 20 of the “Glory of” achievements and the raid drops you want
  4. Make a list of 5 or 10 rep grinds that lead to mounts you want.

… and just settle in for the long haul!

Please ask again if you have any questions or thoughts.

Oof.

Rarity is a must.

AllTheThings is Da Bomb, though. But beware - it can suck your sanity faster than Lovecraft’s Old Ones. :stuck_out_tongue: It shows EVERYTHING you can collect in the game, organised by location and type. And you can mouseover anything for information about how to get it, I think there’s a setting where you can show only a certain class of things, like mounts.

There is an addon WQachievements that notifies you when world quests that lead to achievements are up in any expansion. I found that very helpful for some of the out of the way world quests that had a decent chance to drop a mount - I picked up several mounts that way. Just check it every day.

Oh, and I forgot to mention: check the Auction House! There are several tradable mounts, and some of them are quite cheap.

Thanks English is not my mother language so sometimes I struggle. I tried with a couple of alts to get the fel robot. Each time I try it doesn’t drop so I was going crazy . I will check for everything you said. But a lil increase in drop rates would significantly help us non English players. I would like frost mage mount but still I know no tactics so I can’t try and get that. I don’t even know the main entrance to there. It is not smack beat and get the mounts. All bosses require tactics which is where I fail I think. Sometimes if you miss tactics you won’t be successful with only brute force. Especially achievement ones are way too much harder for non English players. Thanks for helping me get some nice mounts. But Overall I want some new nice mounts. But I will check. At least trying 2 or 3 mounts all together would be cool. Thanks for your insights. If there is anything you can add to facilitate mount farming I would be glad. I will try getting 180 mounts in a day hopefully.

edit: which day you recommend farming? reset day?

That is really very much up to you - what days you have time. And when you’re in the mood.

Over-Farming can easily lead to burnout.

I know someone who actually deleted three of his max-level characters because if they were available he would feel obliged to farm with them.

When I was farming Ji-Kun, my worst farm, on I think it was five characters at the time, I had to take a few months off Throne of Thunder because it was really getting to me. I had got everything else from the raid, so there was nothing else to look forward to. But eventually I came back to it, and got it.

I know some people use spreadsheets to calendar their runs. That was too hardcore for me.

But what I did was have a set of raids that I would do once a week, on any day, and also be progressing reps so that it wasn’t all just monotonous blasting through raids. I took on the Argent Tournament, and that is a very spread out grind.

I just made sure that I ran all my farming characters through the set of raids I was doing once per week.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

P.S. Why is it harder for non-English speakers?

I use Firefox browser, and it has an inbuilt translation feature. When I visit a page that is not in English, it offers to change the page to English. That translation feature works for all languages, I believe, so that should make reading Wowhead and guides much easier.
