I feel it will force people to raid log every single week to get the most from it, unless they plan to add catchup mechanics towards the end of the season for that renown.
This will be the first time probably where certain items or mounts and the rewards in general will be locked by arbitrary system which will require you to do it every single week without exceptions. If it will be as it sounds where season will be like 20 weeks long or something along these lines then everyone will need to do raid every single week if they wanna get that dinosaur mount and other cool renown stuff.
My point is not about that I don’t wanna run the raid or something because hard or whatever, you can easily lfr it or find casual guild for normal, I am talking about situations when people for example couldn’t play in the certain weeks at all, because irl, reasons etc, and then they will be left out because they did not complete some renown during those weeks to progress.
In previous times there were catch up mechanics, either it be straight nerfs to the raid after some months of season or dinar system they did in SL. But the point was you could easily grab all the rewards at the end of season, by doing same things as people were doing from start (raiding, M+, etc). Now it seems that blizz will force you to do content (raid in this example) every single week without missing any week if you want to get rewards and raid nerfs.
In comparison: we have KSM mount for each season, which you can earn while the season runs, regardless of when you jumped in as long as it is during the season. But the new raptor looking mount from raid it seems we need to religiously raid log every single week to secure it, so if you missed half or even more of the season and want to jump in, it will probably be not worth it, since you will be locked out of most juicy stuff coming with new renown.
Once again it is my concerns so far about the system, which did not even release yet and we don’t have full picture about that
