About promotional events around the world

Been seeing some players with this fire motorbike mount, and it turns out that they have paid real money from the US to get the bike into the EU and it´s around 80+ euros depending on the seller’s price.

why isn´t bliz making these promotional mounts worldwide?
this is a form of rmt in my opinion.

sorry if there was already a thread on this.

Most people are buying with gold.

Current going rate is around 750k.

Certain promos are restricted based on the respective country laws.

That and if you drunk that Mountain Dew you would gain weight, a lot.

Because Europe, unlike the US, is made up of 44 different countries, with 44 different sets of rules, laws and regulations. Which Mountain Dew would have to respect individually for each country. As a lot of European countries have laws against this kind of promotion.

Aha, really? How exactly does this function, since there is no ingame transaction possible to get this mount? Are they having people (friends /family members… us residents either way) buy cases of Mtn dew and bags of doritos , generate the codes for them, and then giving them out for ingame money by sending the code per whisper /e-mail /whatever?

honestly sounds like a scam just waiting to happen, and also seems to me like a lot of extra steps as opposed to just posting it on ebay for 50 bucks and not paying 10€ to blizzard for the conversion back to tokens… 0.o

Hahaha… but to be real, the mount costs 600 points, a case of `Dew is 24 cans @356 ml and gives 500 points.

If you´re not drinking all that soda in one stitting, but like a normal person over the course of 2-3 weeks, you should probably be fine and still be able to enjoy the 100 point bag of doritos you needed to get the 600 pts

All this reminds me though, I need to call mom and get her to generate a code, because she´s drinking dew and munching doritos on a regular basis, anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

color me surprised when they get scammed.

if your mom lives in usa then yeah you can get it otherwise mountain dew europe isnt running any same promotion.

Yet Call of Duty has the exact same kind of promos with Monster drinks here in Europe numerous times for years… which was under Activision, same as Blizzard.

And those promos were also not available in other regions, so, seeing as you started with “yet” which would generally denote a statement contradicting his premise: How exactly are you doing anything but prove that what he said is in fact true by providing further examples? 0.o

You’re more likely to be scammed on ebay than the wowmarket. These are the same people that deal with TCG mounts and are not gonna risk getting banned over 700k.

But muh doritos and dew!

Im happy as it is, im not addicted in such a way that id buy some garbage irl for something in wow… Unhealthy garbage also

Not even an opinion really. Bliz has a store and sells things for real life money. This is RMT. And that’s fine and not against any rules.
Players doing RMT between each other is against the rules. Although with how gold can be used for the store now this is getting a little fuzzy.

Monster is sold in EU, Mountain Dew is not.

Blizzard don’t hand these items out for free, the companies that run these promo’s pay Blizzard for the right to run the promo. Maybe if EU companies stepped up, we could get nice stuff too.

This is factually incorrect, I can literally have a 6 pack of Dew in my hands in less than 5 minutes if I want, just have to walk 500m to Penny Markt and purchase it. And they´re actually right next to Monster on the shelf because some well intended but thoroughly misguided Intern thought it would be a good idea to arrange the beverage section alphabetically (Monster-MountainDew, ok,I see the similarity… now, try to explain RedBull-Rhubarb tea-Rum please  )

It´s just not as easy to find in teh EU because it´s simply not a flavor profile that appeals to most european palletes, so it not ordered by the truckload like it is an a south carolina wal-mart… That´s why it´s also generally more readily found in more “pass-though” locations like train station vending machines or Kiosks as opposed to supermarkets, because these have some amount of international traffic, and with that americans and other foreign clientele that are more likely to purchase one than your average German housewife.

More like 30-35 (no, I don’t have it).

But yeah, just two companies doing business. They can set the restrictions however they want, and it’s not -just- up to Blizzard.

Just a heads up.

don´t tell people in-game that you bought the bike. been hearing that those who talked about it are getting banned. so say you got gifted.

Going to need to see a screenshot of the ban message from an affected player before believing that.
According to other things people hear in game lootboxes and tender packs sold on the store are only a few days away.

You can buy it on a well know auction site for around £23 or $30 :+1:

Thats insane, no one will pay that

Just spoke to a GM, said it was no issues if you have friend in the us able to help.
