One thing I noticed is that a lot of resto druids don’t use lifebloom, like at all, or very scarcely. Several people have also told me it’s a bad spell. Talking 5 man content here.
I don’t understand this. Granted, I’m no resto druid main by any means, but I find the spell to be very useful. During heavy aoe damage moments, blanketing your party in rejuvs and lifeblooms is basically preventing any death that is not a direct oneshot. What these druids seem to do instead is to spam the living crap out of regrowth/nourish. This doesn’t make sense to me at all. I rarely cast at all playing resto druid, assuming I’m not strictly tank healing on patchwerk-like bosses. The direct healing way of playing doesn’t seem to be very successful either, because people seem to die to lack of healing, and the hps numbers are usually not very impressive.
Guides seem to say that lifebloom is in a weird spot due to the mana cost. But if you let it wear off and gain some mana back I don’t find mana to be an issue at all. Perhaps this no lifebloom-playstyle develops when you’re low geared and you make it a habit? Or do you think I’m completely off the charts here?
But why is this? Healing is situational and not really about having a set rotation, like a dps class would.
Take a dungeon like ToC Gamma. If you know your entire group is gonna be spammed with heavy aoe damage, why not make sure to blanket your party with as many hots as possible, including lifebloom, during that period? Assuming you can sustain it. It doesn’t make sense to let people die just because some guide tells you that certain theoretical rules apply. Or am I misunderstanding you?
You’re right, but Lifebloom’s healing isn’t high compared to its mana cost. It’s way better to keep Rejus and WG on party and fill in with Nourish/Swiftmend - they heal a lot and also their crits leave Living Seed on target causing even more healing.
Maybe you’ve met resto druids which don’t know about proactive healing and/or they don’t know about dungeon mechanics so they don’t prepare hots before damage?
I didn’t heal it lately, but maybe when they put Rejus and WG and people are at 50% hp they are scared putting Lifebloom on party won’t save them in time?
i always have Lifebloom up on the tank, but yea generally its Rejuv to improve Nourish heal on another member or the party, or if there full group heal required its wild growth
Ah wait, there is one more case for Lifebloom usage!
When priest casts Hymn of Hope and you had 0 mana you spam Lifeblooms to get “free” healing as mana you got from hymn will be taken away, but since there is nothing to take (lifeblooms burnt your mana pool to 0 again) you will lose nothing and when Lifeblooms bloom you’ll get that mana back.
Personally for me it uses quite bit of mana compared to rejuv etc.
The bloom itself is healing for a whole lot, but the Healing over time is meh from my point of view. personally i almost never use it.
