Hello friends ,I m new to the 2023Wow and after playing almost 1 month on a non Rp server I have decided to try one, AD in particular ( after reading other posts saying this one is the biggest and the best somehow )
I have decided to join a RP server because I like to interact with people more ,be friendly ,starting a dungeon ,at least saying hello or thanks ,bye ,whatever , communication. On a normal server I feel sometimes I m playing with bots. Being the character is something I ve always been into in other mmos also ,except for the talking part as most of the ppl found it weird and well ,no one was doing it so ,most of the common language there was brb, lol, gg and ez ,and after hours and hours where 70% of the talking was like this I got used to it but not very happy . On the other way many would say that there is a guild for interaction and stuff but the thing is I dont just want to depend on the guild to have a small talk with someone or why not even a great conversation by the end of the day . From what I ve read and seen on other posts many people said the Rp servers are more lively and people more open for a talk which is great and makes the mmo feel more like an online game rather than feeling like I m playing Skyrim or whatever . If it comes to put some Rp into it, things become even better and I m very excited about this.
There is only one question I would like to ask and such: are the Rp servers also serious servers which do M+ raids, pvp and stuff like this ? Or is it more that players chill and mostly talk and do exploring and stuff ? Personally I would prefer a mix of both ,I like chillin ,chatting about stars and moons ,spirits and galaxies or simply about my fellow, furry Sheepa but also to do the end game content mostly for the achivs ,drops etc. and I don t want to wait for the new expen so that I can do easily the older one as it s no fun and excitement.
Anyways ,nice to meet you all ,my fellow beautiful souls
Roleplay realmsâ main focus is roleplay, of course, but itâs sort of like how in a PVP server, there arenât just people interested in PVP; itâs more so that most people in themâs main interest is generally PVP, but it doesnât mean that they donât do anything else.
Youâll find players who just log on to roleplay, but, generally, most roleplayers do content, and the realm has a considerable population of people whose main focus is content, as well as crossrealm LFG being a thing.
Argent Dawn will not change this, youâll be grouped with other servers from our battlegroup (is that even a thing anymore) / cluster of servers and people will still feel like scripted NPCs when doing content in LFG queues
This is also extremely untrue. Weâre literally no different, apart from people are roleplaying and sometimes, if you come across another RPer in content, you might interact more favourably, but generally speaking, itâs just the same as every other server. People still flood the world channels with nonsense and guild spam.
Yes, those things still take place (though iâve not seen organised PvP in years on Argent Dawn) but our server is known for usually being close to last in any stage of progression, so I wouldnât expect cutting edge mythic raiding on Argent Dawn
I´ll second what Avantheria wrote, we´re not in any way different from other servers.
In general, you can divide people on RP servers into two groups: RPers and non-RPers.
Non-RPers are literally the same as any other player on any other server. They also form majority of the server´s population.
Behavior of RPers depends on whether they´re RPing or doing content. There´s a huge misconception among non-RPer community on what WoW RP is, or more specific, what RP on Argent Dawn is. We´re not logging in and pretending it´s our character doing the raid, nor are we chatting about stars when encountering people when levelling. RPer in general is going to behave exactly same as non-RPer when playing the game because the RP part takes place outside of doing content. People either gather in few designated places and RP out interactions between the characters, or they take part in a story created by one of them. And, in general, we also have the tendency to ignore people who start running around and talking out of character when we RP.
So, in the end, if you hope to get that old-school living world MMORPG experience, you´re going to be disappointed.
While everything people said above is true, there are certain things that you donât really find in other realms. If you just enjoy seeing a city alive and used to some extent beyond the training dummies and the auction house, then you do find that here, regardless of the quality of the RP happening there. Itâs true even for some other zones beyond the capitals, and you do retain some of that ârealm communityâ vibe of classic if youâre actively involved in RP. AD also only shards with RP realms (most recent expansion notwithstanding), but as other RP realms are largely inactive, you pretty much only see AD folks.
Whether people are friendlier/more willing to interact OOC is up for debate, but Iâd say itâs not very different from other realms. Doubly true for content, for the reasons also mentioned in previous posts.
This is somewhat true, but it mostly has to do with the RP itself since that does require interaction with other people by design. People who donât really understand RP often repeat this idea that itâs somehow just some magical socialising and saying hello back for some reason.
Just as serious or not as any other server. The only real difference with an RP server is, youâve guessed it, the RP that takes place in guilds or events or just random walk-up encounter and such.
I would personally say that if itâs just some nostalgic long lost social aspect of the game youâre mainly after, this realm is no different than others. Unless youâre specifically interested in RP, thereâs little reason to be here as opposed to any other realm.
