Hello there. So blizzard if you’re reading this. I wana let you know that i used to think that you actually knew what was best for the game and that you actually read the feedback that we gave to you. But no the way you butchered Prince Arthas Menethil it was the last straw for me. If you want to keep the subs there were hoping to see arthas again especilly since that in bfa that you gave him a new model in the cinematic of Lady jaina proudmoore i’d surgest a quest to rescue his soul and nuture it and then he’ll be returned to his old form the glories Prince Arthas Menethil of Lordaeron else you may aswell rename the cinematic to blizzard dosen’t care about Warcraft 3 lore.
I totally agree, that they completely screwed up the cinematic. It just follows the Shadowland pattern = doesn’t make any sense.
Tbh I would be fine with Arthas disappearing into eternity even as a floating ball of anima IF Uther and Jaina actually showed any signs of emotions… where is Uther’s apology or just one last goodbye to his old brother in arms? Where is Jaina’s last goodbye to her love?
The lack of dynamic between these three characters in this cinematic is what I really dislike the most about it. Also Varian’s soul was completely destroyed by Guldan, yet for some reason he appears… like what?
Maybe its not the end for Arthas… if the Jailer remakes the world, then everything is possible and with that, Arthas’s soul might become whole again. But that’s just wishful thinking at this point.
I have room in my Nightfae conservatory. I’d be up for it.
I still hope that with stopping the Jailer in a crucial moment WE actually remake the world and a lot of happenings are being undone. As in Varian and Arthas coming back and Teldrassil being reborn. Probably with some other tricky side effects, but those would then be for the next expansion to solve.
You mean he’ll give Arthas a second chance in life?

Summary
That was Zovaal…there is actually a line near the beginning of the Cinematic:
‘Fulfill your final purpose, Annihilation!’ The fate of all who carry my blade’ as the camera is focused on the glowing white soul wisp in Kingsmourne, it then pans up to show Anduin’s soul being sucked towards the blade…the name is also a giveaway.
When Anduin breaks free, the wisps in the two halves of Shalamayne are golden.
Arthas’ already had his death scene at the top of Icecrown Citadel…this cinematic was about the others being finally able to move on.
No it was so much more. Arthas deserves an afterlife…
Imho, I think it’s unlikely Blizzard would go back in time, on Azeroth, if we defeat Zovaal.
Yeah we really needed another thread about this when there is a better on going one already.
Oh no, we’re not going down that nonsense again?! Outland made sense at the time because it was the current times…destroyed, which made sense, from the Blood Elf campaign of W3.
I still can’t figure out how WoD worked and that’s been over for 5 and a half years.
I love Arthas as much as the next person. Whether we want to admit it or not, all those characters in that final cinematic would not be important or relevant if it wasn’t for him.
But, we have to accept things. I had to.
For me, I just want to go back to Azeroth and have an updated Quel’Thalas and Draenei Isles.
Never said any different but there is a bigger and better and more well presented thread already ongoing that was top of the page.
But w/e sorry for having a view.
Well, it’s not just Arthas, I mean look at Illidan as well and everyone around him.
How important would Maiev, Tyrande or Malfurion be if Illidan wasn’t there? Maiev already hinted at the end of the Black Temple raid that she was nothing. Then, she went on a Highborne murder spree…
But, time moves forward.
Exactly. Just like the characters, some players are stuck in the past.
Just move on.
Unpopular opinion: Arthas was an overrated NPC anyway.
I guess with people souls and world souls being reborn/born, maybe cities being reborn might be possible.
My Grove tenders will probably be fine looking after Teldrassil, not so sure about Undercity.
That wildseed will be one heck of a grungy, sticky ‘baby’, to look after - hmm, will need full protective gear and a long stick with that one…
Do we need another thread for this?
It’s likely that things happening in the Shadowlands already highly affected Azeroth in a way that will require us to fix it. Whether this is done by directly going back in time or find an alternative way to restore timelines / fragments of reality that have been tempered with is another question.
I referred to Arthas’ / Varian’s / any lost soul only regarding the conservatory. Regarding Teldrassil, rebirth for a tree means sprouting from a seedling usually. If I remember correctly, I helped planting a world tree seed on Mount Hyjal during Cataclysm already. There might be a seed of Teldrassil that survived somewhere, too.
I had another look at the Paladins soul quest, and I may have missed it, but I haven’t seen any update on the fate of the soul of Terenas Menethil or the reason for it being kept in that room.
Yes, my imagination went wild and led to a little joke with Undercity
The question for me is:
Would most of the night elves want to go back into any tree (even one standing in a lake) after what happened ?
Would they be able to feel safe in such an environment again ?
Are some of them considering an alternative more fire proof arrangement outside of Stormwind ?
Also curious to see where that leaves the Worgen ?
A lot of soul fates stay unsolved, which is one of the major issues I have with Shadowlands. If you open up such a big barrel and not relate it to some key lore figures, who died, it leaves people unsatisfied with the story naturally. Meanwhile we get introduced to hasty ends for certain fates like “that’s it, deal with it” and plot twists that lack any logic or explanation. It’s just frustrating and also quite insulting to the player’s intellect.
As a Night Elf player by heart, I can not imagine they’d ever feel home in a “settlement” outside Stormwind. They are children of the forest. Not some “domesticated” moderate sized Elwynn with it’s lumberjacks, human infrastructure and the spiritual abyss that is Goldshire Inn…
I mean intact, untouched and holy forests where the magic of nature’s deep green heart resides. Otherwise, I think their entire being would change drastically. Mind the transformation of Shal’dorei and Sin’Dorei after they got disconnected from that sort of habitat.
Ardenweald surely sort of resembles the Night Elf ideal in terms of afterlife. And those still remaining among the living will always seek for an equivalent in the mortal world. They would never find peace of mind in Stormwind and surrounding but rather pick locations like Hyjal, Feralas, Ashenvale or Val’Sharah to start fresh and nurse a new world tree. Welcoming Worgen in the hood of course. x’)
“Story” pattern :
Half hearted fan fic about a Mary Sue b-word.
It’s like Hollywood nowadays.
Good character- Story writing , nah screw that.
Nah let sylvanas be OP… because…???
He let’s put arthas in the story, but make the Cinematic about sylvanas…
Kael thas deserved less mercy than Arthas yet it is Arthas who gets deleted…
What Kael did was not under the control of an evil sword.
Meanwhile Devos and other SL randoms get to be reborn at the queen’s conservatory.
Edit: Also Sylvanas did atrocities willingly but I guess it is all water under the bridge because…waifu?
