About the upcomming rework and mythic+ perfomance

Good evening fellow mages . Cant decide about next week . Between fire frost mainly and arcane , which spec you think will compete better overall in mythics beyond 17 ? And aside from complexity of rotations etc , do you think that a certain spec got overall bigger boost from the upcomming changes ?

Couldnt find damage logs either from ptr to get an idea

thank you for your time

Havent tested anything but my guess is gonna be frost, seems to be able to stack all the aoe and st in the same build, while fires looking abit more devided.

I could possibly be wrong tho or suprised as i havent rly tried it out

indeed , i have read that fire will maybe have this problem , to have to choose between aoe and st and frankly i dont like this idea if its valid

Arcane didnt rly get any changes, so i cant see that winning, but its always possible, so power of deduction primarily at hand tbere.

And yeah it seems rly unequal if the rule dont apply to all, no idea tho. Fire could prove to be better then im expecting.

lets hope someone that actually tested both in ptr (fire and frost) can share some info here

Arcane’s had a few changes: -

  • New Talent: Concentrated Power – Clearcasting makes your next Arcane Missiles channel 20% faster or causes your next Arcane Explosion to echo for 40% damage.

  • Orb Barrage has been redesigned – Arcane Barrage has a 10% chance per Arcane Charge consumed to launch an Arcane Orb in front of you.

  • Arcane Barrage has been removed from the talent tree and is now learned at level 11.

  • Arcane Barrage damage increased by 6% and no longer has a 3 second cooldown.

  • Resonance now increases Arcane Barrage damage by 12% per target hit (was 15%).

  • Clearcasting has been removed from the talent tree and is now learned at level 12.

  • Arcane Surge duration has been increased by 3 seconds and now increases spell damage by 35% (was 10%).

  • Clearcasting no longer makes Arcane Missiles channel time faster.

  • Arcane Explosion damage reduced by 6%.

  • Arcane Orb damage reduced by 6%.

  • Siphon Storm no longer grants Arcane Charges and now halves Evocation’s channel time.

  • Improved Prismatic Barrier reduces magic damage taken by 10% (was 5%) and reduces harmful Magic effect durations by 15% (was 10%).

  • Improved Prismatic Barrier no longer connects to Touch of the Magi.

  • Arcing Cleave no longer connects to Touch of the Magi.

  • Nether Tempest now connects to Chrono Shift and Supernova in the Arcane tree.

  • Reverberate is no longer a choice node with Nether Tempest and is located directly after Arcane Missiles.

  • Arcane Power has been removed.

Largely improvements and changes to AoE damage/talents.

I’m especially looking forward to trying out the changes to the Orb Barrage talents, which is basically a copy of one of the Legion legendaries and was a must have on Fortified weeks.

When i looked up the patch i saw none of these o.o guessing i read outdated notes.

Good to see arcanes getting some attention tho, ive wanted a reason to give it a swing haha

Yeah these are from the official notes Blizz released yesterday, Arcane got some changes near the start of the PTR but hasn’t seen a huge amount after that, unlike Fire and Frost.

Fire’s still reliant on skb in m+

So i guess it seems as frost will be the one for mythics since it can combine aoe and st

Got a feeling arcane could be the winner tbh

i guess we need to wait a few days

I am abandoning my mage due to huge nerfs inc, dunno if i will continue to play the game since mage was a part of this game i am not willing to let it go so easily, the class spec is nerfed to the ground if you cant see that in the numbers then you will soon face it in reality.
Good afternoon

All ability damage increased by 15% and 1/2 Incanters flow in the class tree. I’ve heard damage on ptr is good.

Abit overdramatic?

Mage was overpowered on ptr. Ofcourse its going to get nerfed :joy::joy:.

If you think mage being any less then the strongest dps in the game is in the ground sure. But no. In reality its absolutely fine
