About Warglaives

So, aside from class fantasy, what purpose do Warglaives have being in their own weapon category? Afaik they’re no different from other one handed weapons, and they’ve been shown to be used by characters which are most certainly not demon hunters before, such as Shadow Hunters or Night Elf Sentinels.

Especially on that last one, the warglaive from the Darkshore warfront for alliance is literally a HD version of the weapon used by the sentinels. Should Warglaives be turned back into regular one handed swords like the original warglaives from Black Temple, or should classes such as Warriors, Rogues, Monks etc gain the ability to use Warglaives? Or remain as they are, limited to Demon Hunters for the sake of class fantasy?

That always confused me as well.
I’d think they should make them available for more classes in SL since the DH hype has long died down by now. But nothing seems to be planned regarding that.

Warglaives should be usable by more than just Demon Hunters. There is nothing that special about Warlgaives. Warriors are meant to be the masters of every weapon type so they should be able to use them. Overall I think they should make warglaives available for every class that can use Warglaives of Azzinoth.

Be careful what you ask. I can hear rumble of dh riot coming “we dont have other weapons to mog and illidan <3<3<3”.

hehe, of course they dont have

So it’s a hunter weapon then

The subject is always going to be divisive.

I agree on the sentinel glaives part. It feels stupid to only have DHs use those.

Warriors (masters of all weapons) and rogues (masters of all 1H weapons) seems like a natural choice to allow these.

The Warglaive of Azzinoth, even though originally a sword, is still restricted to DK, DH, monk, rogue and warrior (so no paladin, hunter or caster shenanigans).

To be honest (and I’m sure DK mains will hate me for this) it just seems weird to see a DK walking around with warglaives.

As for other classes who don’t use swords, maybe something like a Shaman has the merit of using warglaives (I’m not versed enough in their fantasy to know what suits them so don’t dwell too much on it).
