Abusing the report feature

While I do agree that it can get annoying, it is still falsely reporting people, not to mention that there are plenty of other things that are flooding trade chat: guild adverts, BoE selling, mount selling, the usual AD banter. Boosting just happens to be one of the many.

Which would be good for everyone involved.

That wouldn’t make sense though at all. Wouldn’t they want to keep boosters alive, so more people buy Gold from Blizz to spend on boosters? It’s the perfect business model.

Yup, I do understand that, although the hatred is quite misplaced I must say. Boosters offer a community driven catch up mechanic, although for the PvP side of things, it can get a bit obnoxious with bad players running around with high rates.

Oh, my big twink bro

Ppl are free to report spammers. If you think you dont deserve a squelch, you can always submit a ticket and “Appeal Silence”. If they find you innocent, they will remove it. (But it not worth it if its just 24h silence tho… they answer in 2-4 days)

I was silenced many times before and when I appeal, they respond that they reviewed my chat reports and wont remove my silence till it expires - 2 months, cuz it was too abusive and inappropriate.

But yeah… 10 ppl report you and you get automatic silence. That could be ez abused. I said some troll things about Putin and all the russians reported me in a sec, for example.

how about you go away with your SPAM?? No one wants that. if someone needs a boost he will ask in /2 wtb boost +12 or somethin

while i like this idea a lot, i dont really think it would be successful.

i mean, who would voluntarily join a chat which is basically a boost spam cesspit? only those who really need and know about it i suppose. means they would lose out on the bigger crowd and dont reach as many people as before. :woman_shrugging:

Well, it does depend on the context.

I’m not sure if I should take yet another Retributor avatar seriously :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, just like if you enter a zone / capital, you enter general / trade / whatnot chats. I personally would not like to see boosting adverts removed from trade chat, as they perfectly fit into it (and it is true that more people pay attention to trade chats), but it can get quite obnoxious within the community.

But they don’t now, people who don’t want to see it either turn trade off or use an add-one to stop the boosts.

I would also like to see a separate channel as a solution, nobody is then restricted or reported and only those that want to use it will

I agree. Im sick of these boost spams in Trade chat. I always leave it, but sometimes I just need to buy something which is missing in my AH and then when I type “/join trade” … Im hit by the boost wall. It makes me a spammer too, cuz nobody cant see my request when 20+ boost spammers press “alt+v” and spam and spam 3-4 rows.

well, yeah but im just trying to see both sides here.

You are violating the ToS by advertising your services in the group finder tool.

As for being muted, I don’t know, perhaps you’re aggressively advertising your services?

I spam a few times a week too selling 5mask vision runs, I never got silenced yet and people were interested in my services as they came quite cheap due to me being a private booster.

As I said clearly, I’m using trade chat.

Sure. But since you’re spamming the trade channels you are no longer “just going by the rules” so yeah.

Trade chat is for trade! (items)
You need a new Service channel where you can offer your boost services.

Remember, advertising in the group finder is specifically reportable

I’m 100% confident that that is not the case, as I keep a MINIMUM of 150 second interval between advertising (I’m on Argent Dawn, so Trade Chat is constantly being flooded).

I’m also a private booster, selling 2afk Mythic Island runs very cheaply, and similarly, I had a lot of customers, even returning ones.

I was not spamming.

Trade chat is used to trade anything for gold. That is what is called trade - trade something, let it be a service, a mount, or a BoE for something else - in this case, a service being traded for gold.

Yup, I agree.

I am well aware of that, and I’m not doing that, as I said, I’m using the trade chat to advertise.

Edit: And by the way, just to add to this: being falsely reported for violating the ToS with a boosting advert isn’t the only case of people reporting others falsely. A relatively new example is Asmongold being muted for using the Group finder tool to organize a Mythic Antorus run.

Ah, I didn’t notice you’re on Argent Dawn.

Argent Dawn is a…less than ideal server so to speak, with players being more easily…irritated so to speak.

Perhaps some roleplayers believe they’re doing “good” deeds by spam reporting everyone offering services.

Well, the character I’m using for forum dwelling is on Ragnaros, although I make no secret of my main, ever.

I guess, then again this happens outside RP realms, I’m sure.

And you know why. It’s got nothing to do with the RP tag.

doesn’t badboy just report automaticly? well you get a popup to report but more often than not i just click on report

If that is the case, then Blizzard needs to do something about that. Especially if someone is multiboxing, just have your 10 alts report someone, and ruin their gameplay experience lol

I’d advise you first check who you are reporting, and why.

rude.
