Accents request!

Okay, bare with me.

From Vanilla Launch up until Cataclysm all human voices had American accents, then Worgen/ Gilnean gained commoner London accents when Gilneas became relevant. Then in BFA Kul’tiran humans gained Southern Cornish/ Summerset accents when Kul’tiras became relevant.

My request for continuity purposes is that when Lordaeron citizens become established back into relevancy again (with the propaganda posters from BFA etc.) The Lordaeron humans gain a Yorkshire/ Northern English i.e. Lancashire/ Liverpool (Not Scottish) accent.

I know some Lore junkie will comment that Warcraft 3 Lordaeron humans had American accents but so did Kul’tiran too!

My request would fit as WOW tends to borrow from real world fantasy tropes… Sean Bean is a Yorkshire man who’s been in Game of Thrones & Lord of The Rings!

As a Yorkshire lass and knowing what Blizzard does to any and every accent it “takes inspiration” from I say for the love of Tetley’s No!

I really nope they don’t go down that road, I really dislike nothern English accents (no disrespect, it’s just a personal preference) and it would really tarnish the zone for me.

I’d rather they kept a very neutral either US or English accent.

The dwarf “Scottish” accents are hate crimes.

I wouldn’t wish the same on my northern friends from the south.

But… they did have American accents.

We already have Kul’tiran and Gilnean ones.

So you’re asking for us Lordaeronians to be killed all the time? How rude!

The Kul’tiran arguement is also well…

In wc3 We had hardly any Kul’tiran representation besides Daylin Proudmoore.
In Bfa they got their own full expansion and identity in World of warcraft.

But Lordaeron already had allot of representation in Wc3 and several lore characters that already spoke the way they do…

To suddenly retcon it into Nortern english yorkshire accent? Just why?

I am up for that actor to join the VA cast, however I have to say that the german dub has a vast range of Dialekts used to differ the human cultures in WoW. For example the Kul Tirans use “Sächsisch” which sounds like this example from a GTA mod

Neutral English? What prey tell would that be?

Pick one:

  1. Cockney
  2. Lancashire
  3. Brummie
  4. Scouse
  5. Yorkshire
  6. Geordie
  7. Estuary English
  8. Queen’s English
  9. Chinglish, Chindianglish
  10. Cornish / West country / Wiltshire
  11. Multicultural London English
  12. Mackem
  13. Pitmatic
  14. Cumbrian dialect
  15. Humberside

I mean… at best you could hope for is Blizzard adding some vendors or npc’s in Stormwind speaking your new Lordaeron yorkshire accent. No one even would know was Lordaeronian accent that they never heard before.

We aslo have the Forsaken already in the game who are at large the remaining Lordaeronians. So we would have to retcon all their voicelines into Northern english and Yorkshire accents too.

And everyone when that happend would just scratch their head asking what just happend?
Why are all my undead voice lines changed?

Skullstalker:

  1. Forsaken are dead therefore the larynx/ voice box will be decayed somewhat & are undead/ resurrected corpses so like Steve-o from Jackass they will speak with the throat rather than voice box

  2. Those reps such as the Mograine’s were resurrected by death magic yo become Death Knights like forsaken the way they speak changes when resurrected!

I cannot think of any LIVING Lordaeron NPCs that have a relevancy impact to assign a new accent! It takes a Worgen or Kul’tiran race to assign a new accent lol!

Well damn… One does not only Loose ones life in death. But also their accent and vocal cords. Naturally.

But what about Arthas and Uther… and every Lordaeron character we’ve interacted with so far… The scarlet crusaders and all >< :grimacing:

Given free choice, I’d like it to be Queen’s English or my own accent (Cambridge).

I’s very clean.

Arthas didn’t die he was alive when he became death knight, no time for decaying! Also The small contingency of Scarlet Crusaders we interact with does not consequate a whole playable race lol! Normal, natural, every day Lordaeron people/ adventurers will have a different accent than the Isolated Dread Lord run Scarlet Crusade, Travelling paladins, Lordaeron royalty etc.

Really? I’m from Switzerland (although I’m from the southern part and I speak mainly Italian) and didn’t know.

I guess Swiss-German (Schwiizerdütsch) is not represented… It would be hilarious to hear someone in WoW speaking Bärndütsch :joy:

I was born in Cambridge (Ely RAF base) then raised in Yorkshire, my accent is a mixture of the two with a broad Yorkshire tang lol (I am real Life Jon Snow!) I would still like another English accent in WOW, Northern to be precise!

Like Ned Stark?
