After buying a few paid game services this morning and falling asleep for a bit , I woke up to my account being banned for 7 days for bad language in game.
Now to go straight to the point , I have a tendency to play as mercenary on my horde characters and whenever hordes spit on me via emotes or try and taunt me , I usually call them clowns in whispers , but nothing more than that. (No really , I dont.)
Does this really warrant a 7 days ban ? It was still a really rare occurence. This seem really extreme to me , I really would like to have opinions and eventually an extra help from a CM if possible. The ban also seem to be automatised as it just talks about a lot of reports from players (?)
I did the appeal but I was asking for opinions as well to see if people thought it was warranted because it looks very extreme to me. Also response time is over 24 hours.
Its not an appeal though the main purpose is to have opinions as if its warranted or not. I said if a CM can help thatâd be great but thats not the main purpose. Obviously everyone has the right to doubt if what Iâm saying is the actual truth but in the case that it is , I want opinions from other people to know if this would warrant a 7 days ban , with only one silence on record and no ban ever on my whole account which means Iâm not a multi repeated offender like some people are.
100% Positive ! Nothing at all , I have one silence on record which was very short lived because the âinfractionâ was very minor , I didnt even appeal it because it was so short , aside from that , no bans or silences at all , nothing , and out of the blue this 7 days ban just comes in. Iâm really confused as to what could warrant such a ban , this morning I sent a whisper to someone saying âYouâre not going to get a tank at this time in the morningâ because I was queuing for that dungeon and got declined , but thatâs all I said , and I guess that person reported me and triggered the ban⊠(?)
That sounds quite odd, perhaps whatever you said was mass-reported.
Is there anything youâve said that could even possibly have you banned? Maybe a expletive dropped in general chat, or a particularly sour vent after a wipe?
I actually was honest in my OP , I play as mercenary a lot on horde side which means Iâm able to whisper hordes even though Iâm facing them in battlegrounds , when they taunted me or started spitting on me , I simply called them clowns in whispers and nothing else , just ignored them and moved on because I dislike the toxicity of spamming spitting emote on me. Its also a pretty rare occurence as the spitting emote spam is really not that used even in PVP.
I never went ham on them for doing that , simply said âclownâ. Now could this warrant the 7 days ban ? That seem a bit much , a silence I can take though if there has to be a punishment , but 7 days is just extreme in my opinion

Blizzards will ban you for insulting someone even if itâs not a swear word, Hence you got banned. Canât see it being overturned or it being a mistake. I always found it strange that spitting emote is ok but a small argument can get you a ban.
Spitting is the worst thing you can do to someone imo, I would rather someone punched me than spat on me. except murdering them of course, you get what I meant I guess.
Calling someone a clown really does not warrant a 7 days ban in my opinion , especially considering the much harsher words that are getting thrown around but I guess it is worth that much of a ban for them. Little bit extreme to go from a really short silence that Iâve had a single time on my account which was really short (a few hrs is the minimum iirc) to a full blown out 7 days ban
this game is for anyone over the age of 12 Years old, which means stepping into terroritory of Insulting People has risks of Upsetting parents who could Report you on the Account holders behalf.
Is calllnig someone a âclownâ Worthwhile of a ban no, but because WoW wont increase the age restriction on the game itself⊠Some will take this into contexts of insulting a Child. and given how much the Anti-online bullying and Everything else thats hit modern society i can see why these rules do exist
the fact the ban is for âbad languageâ and not âharrassmentâ would strike me as odd if u called someone a clown though⊠as by definition that isnt a âBad wordâ⊠it sounds like uâve just gotten urself Mass Reported and the bots have Auto-banned you because of Said Mass Reports
the easiest way is simply to not Whisper people i guess xD Iâd of said a âbad languageâ Ban would have been more towards Excessive Swearing⊠which again doesnt make alot of sense to begin with considering WoW lets u Censor Swear words⊠which effectively removes any bad language even if spoken.
my bets are personally on uâve been Mass Reported and its triggered a Automated ban and i wouldnt be suprised if it was overturned when u eventually get a response.
I think you may have called them something stronger than a âclownâ, but itâs nice to see Blizzard banning people for language.
I think Blizzard have changed their systems so that if someone is reported many times they get an automatic ban, which is only looked into by a real person if you appeal.
Iâm not agaisnt them banning for language at all , but I do have the logs included with the ban now so I know what Iâm banned for and its really harsh for what was said. Especially considering Iâve never been banned a single time and had a really short silence because it was a very minor âoffenseâ. Its a bit extreme to go from a few hours silence to a full 7 days ban directly. Appeal is still pending but apparently except if your account got hacked there is no chance for it to even be looked at , no matter if guilty or not.
Same thing happened for me ,email says account banned for bad language but Iâm sure because of people reporting me for advertising my boost.Blizzard ban system is awful
Sorry but, Iâm calling you a prevaricator there. Blizzard donât provide logs or evidence when they ban you. They just ban you and give you a generic reason.
They have changed things a bit recently but providing logs really does sound unlikely. You should also note, OP, that itâs very likely not for something you said this morning. It takes a while to go through reports.
