I am sorry for opening this topic, but I am so anxious and worried it makes me sick from my stomach.
Today after attempting to log in into my World of Warcraft account, I found out the account has been closed for Unauthorized Cheat Programs (Hacks).
I have never hacked. I fact, I have never received any infraction on my account at all. I do not do any challenging content. I do not even type into chat aside from minor RP interactions. I just level up Mage characters, because I like Mage, and sometimes Paladin, and collect nice looking equipment. I don’t even know how hacking works. I do not use addons either beyond Total RP 3. I also play from the same computer for years. The account is 10 years old.
My last action yesterday before logging off were Timewalking dungeons on my level 63 Void Elf Mage. Then, in the very early morning hours, I logged off to bed.
Please, help me. I am so anxious I can hardly breathe. So many years of my life are about to be lost, and I don’t have any idea what I have done wrong. Here is list of some additional information that might be helpful:
No background programmes running besides the game, except Bluestacks for the mobile game War of the Visions and ROCCAT Swarm mouse software, and ocassionally Chrome for WoWhead
No Addons beyond Total RP 3
My password was not changed. I don’t think I have been hacked.
My other two dummy accounts I have created by accident (WoW2 and WoW3) are functional
My subscription was seemingly cancelled by Blizzard
I have appealed, but I am frightened because I still did not receive a response
I could not find any support pnohe number or live chat to resolve the issue beyond a ticket
I can post anything and everything else if it is required to prove I am the account owner. Maybe the anti-cheat thought I am botting because I have many Mage characters on my account, but I just like to play Mage! I level up some of them and then I can collect all the nice looking raid gear from Timewalking weekly quest chests. It is really fun!
I appreciate any and all help.
I tried to provide picture of the email I have received, but to no avail, I cannot post links.
They do actually have a live chat option on the ticket options, which is available right now I believe. Question is, given your account has been closed they may not be able to deal with it that fast and would probably require further investigation so the ticket is probably the best option.
What I would say is, are you absolutely sure there is nothing running in the background that could be considered a “cheat” program?
Live chat will not be available to people with account actions, because the live chat staff are not the ones you need to speak to regarding account actions.
You need to speak to the appeals team, which can ONLY be reached by following the appeals process as described in the email they sent informing you of the ban.
You might not have received a reply from them YET, but you will eventually, after they have reviewed your appeal, and their own data, and made a decision. This could take a while because I am seeing posts on icyveins, that suggest a banwave has just gone out, which would mean they are probably dealing with a LOT of appeals.
This is not true, at least not for suspensions which are account actions. Maybe you are referring to people who have had their accounts closed, and perhaps yes they won’t deal with that over live chat because that’s a very serious action which requires in-depth investigation, but for suspension appeals? Live chat is certainly an option. I cannot go into further details other than it’s probably safe to say it is most likely live chat will not be available for account closures due to the serious nature of that action.
Everything else that Trovlak has said is your best bet. I can’t imagine what it must be like to hear your account is closed after a decade of dedication but the right action you need to do now is wait on your ticket and try to relax. If it’s an accident, things will probably turn out for the better. Sad to say sometimes mistakes do happen.
Thank You. It scares me this entire system can be automated and I might not get to talk to a real person.
If the system issued a ban to my account that has never hacked at all, I am worried it will not change its decision just like that. I do hope there are real humans revieweing this.
You need to keep in mind, that a ban doesn’t always have to be for a recent offence, and quite often, its not.
The ban can be for something that happened months ago. This is because Blizzard prefer to ban lots of people in periodical waves, rather than in dribs and drabs individually.
I am aware of that, and as far as I am aware, I have never done anything that would even award me a mute or any other punishment.
That is why it is so scary that my account is closed all of the sudden. They must be thinking I have done some serious offense, and all I remember doing are timewalking dungeons.
Does that have a macro feature? If so then there is your reason. Edit: yeah, it can make macros, and using them from an out of game system counts as botting. Just having the software active is against the rules, whether you use it or not.
Look at your email and appeal it using the link they give.
I don’t know what macro feature is. I just mapped one of my mouse buttons to represent ALT, so I don’t have to click the one on my keyboard to do some of my spells.
The mouse is old ROCCAT Kiro, I doubt it has any features like that. I used it with WoW for many years.
I used in game macro though. It was for Frostbolt.
/cast Frostbolt
/removeaura Entropic Embrace
It was something like this. I wanted to ugly shadowy aura to do away when I fought.
Macros are a list of commands your mouse can do or buttons to press with pauses in-between. It’s the software that has the feature not the actual mouse.
Ingame macros are fine, out of game macros aren’t.
So
/cast Frostbolt
/cast Frostbolt
/cast Frostbolt
/cast Frostbolt
In case Roccat Swarm can do it, then that could be the reason.
But it feels really strange because I can imagine many people run such a software, everybody who owns a mouse from the company probably, because it comes with the product. I had no idea it could be used for illegal stuff. I am dumb.
