Account Closure - Unauthorized Cheat Programs

Dear Blizzard, in 3rd march of 2021 a lot of Iranian players ( +100 Accounts ) got banned with reason of Unauthorized third party programs. Shadowlands got released we( Iranians) could not connect to Blizzard without using VPN’s or DNS so we had to get a VPN to get in to the game. Yesterday those who’ve been using VPN’s got their account banned with the reason of hacks. blizzard security system ( Warden ) can detect attached apps through WoW.exe client and you can easily find out what apps were attached to our WoW.exe , we didn’t gain any advantage and we didn’t had any unusual Activities
the TOS says if you break any one of these you get locked out:
" Cheating: Create, use, offer, promote, advertise, make available and/or distribute the following or assist therein:

  1. cheats; i.e. methods not expressly authorized by Blizzard, influencing and/or facilitating the gameplay, including exploits of any in-game bugs, and thereby granting you and/or any other user an advantage over other players not using such methods;
  2. bots; i.e. any code and/or software, not expressly authorized by Blizzard, that allows the automated control of a Game, or any other feature of the Platform, e.g. the automated control of a character in a Game;
  3. hacks; i.e. accessing or modifying the software of the Platform in any manner not expressly authorized by Blizzard; and/or
  4. any code and/or software, not expressly authorized by Blizzard, that can be used in connection with the Platform and/or any component or feature thereof which changes and/or facilitates the gameplay or other functionality;"
    as we all know the only and main reason and common thing we had with each other was using VPN and we didn’t use any exploits, bugs or any hack programs but we all got banned.
    "All the Iranians players demand more details and researching about these problems so we could get back to the game and have fun as we had."

They denied access from Iran for a reason. Bypassing that restriction is doomed to cause an account closure. You misused VPN software to do so.

And they even say somewhere in the EULA that they can’t offer their products and services to players in countries which are being economically sanctioned.

If they wanna close our accounts why did they banned us with reason of Hacks. they could say Iranian players can’t play due to sanctions and not calling us hackers.

Because bypassing a restriction is in fact a hack or exloit. Besides, this text is quite generic, often used with account closures. I wouldn’t put too much weight on the exact wording.

Anything that intercepts or redirects the data that flows from your computer to the Blizzard servers counts as hacks, hence it is not allowed.

VPNs redirect the traffic and Blizzard take breaking international law seriously.

You are allowed to use a VPN to play Blizzard’s games. Pretty sure I read a blue post confirming this around Legion or BfA. Heck, I have used one quite regularly to reduce lag at times. You just can’t use it to bypass restrictions.
