Account hacked, and the account name apparently isn't mine, so I guess it's lost

My account was hacked by some moron, and the person has managed to verify his email to the account, because Blizzard has some weird system going on with that. And maybe it is my mistake, or maybe the hacker has changed the account name, I cant remeber if I wrote my real name, but now Blizzard wont let me have my account back. I have provided them with passport photos next to myself, and I know that they can see that the account profil name basically is the same as my real name, futhermore they can see that the card holders name matches mine. I’m really annoyed that this is happening, especially when this isn’t even my fault, and now im actually losing my account cause I cant prove that i own the account. Even though i have a mail that confirms that another mail was verified to my account, an account name that matches mine, the credit card name, and if they can see IP, they would know that it matched my location too. I really don’t know what to do right now, and im scared that im gonna lose my entire wow account just because some weird exploit lets people verify their mail onto another account. And be honest guys, are your real names on every account that you own?

And to complicate things even more, every response i’ve gotten from Blizzard Support, has been AT LEAST 24 hours appart

On any account that I consider valuable, yep. Only the shady services deserve a fake name and a secundary email address. Oh and 2FA is enabled on those accounts where I use a real name.

And since you are already in contact with them, I don’t think there’s much we can do to assist sadly. I hope you get it back, but remember, they did manage to get onto your account in the first place. You may want to check how they did that.

All that Magiola said - I would always put my real name on important stuff.
You should also have an authenticator on the account.

You can’t change last name without a ticket I believe (you need to provide documents proving name change).

I’m sorry but if you put a fake name on your account nothing can be done (no way to prove it was yours to begin with and you didn’t just buy the account from someone else).

Well not on places where making an account means subscribing to malware, but I do have my real name on sites where I pay money (as I wouldn’t want to risk something like this).

The product key of the original base game used for creating the account might help, assuming your account is older. Least in the past Blizzard used those to verify ownership, too.

Why would your account not be in your real name?

Hi Cokaine,

Unfortunately, this is not something that we can assist with over the forums.

If your account has been registered with the correct details, Customer Support will always be able to help recover a hacked account. If you ever change your real name, Customer Support will assist with updating the details as these cannot be changed by players.

You’ll need to resolve this via ticket to try and clarify why personal details may not be correct in this case.

Thanks!
