My friends account have ben hacked multiple times in the past 2 weeks
today gave Blizzard away my friend account to a unknow EMAIL address bypasing his toway authenticator with just a simple ticket. Multiple attemps to get in the account those 2 weeks. And after the last restoration off the account 8 days ago Blizzard still give’s the account away to hackers. How can you stop this?
it was not bought. and it was not some website my friend went in to.
Raise ticket I assume?
yes he has.
“His two factor authentication got bypassed by submitting a ticket”
“Raise a ticket”
It’s a good thing they didn’t get rid of loads of people who dealt with this flawed system!
I find this a bit hard to believe, blizzard won’t just give away a account unless the “hacker” got close to all the information of your friend to prove they own the acc etc.
But well tell your friend to contact them by phone if possible.
IDs can be faked and they don’t check enough that they’re actually real.
all the hacker needs is the account email address or account name and a fake id.
If your friends ID have been faked, he/she got other problems to worry about.
But again contact them by phone if possible as posting on the forum won’t help.
my friends id hasent ben faked its just a random fake id.
its imposible to call blizzard you cant call them any more.
No, a “random fake id” won’t do it … the information on the ID need to match the information that blizzard got.
My friend after getting hacked got his account back with an out of date library card. I honestly doubt the support team even look at the photos you send in.
My company ignores date protection all the time.
Lots of our stuff has personal medical info on it
I raised it as a serious issue that anyone in the company could view it if they had any idea what to look for, or were just searching randomly.
They concluded unlikely so doesn’t matter
So I now know of staff members who are pregnant and stuff.
This news doesn’t shock me
and name of account owner
Tell them to get an alias… I think gmail has the same option
No ‘hacker’ would go to the trouble of constructing and using a ‘fake id’ to remove an authenticator to get at the account. It’s too much hassle.
Something doesn’t smell right.
Just wondering, if its possible your friend knows the hacker irl without even realising it?
Because something about this story smells like that could be the case.
Always use unique passwords for every single account, and if possible an e-mail address that is not in any database like haveibeenpwned.com, as example if you have trouble remembering all those passwords just get a password manager with easy to remember password with 2 factor authentication, again preferably use a e-mail address that is not leaked or you set yourself up for phishing potentially or brute force attacks.
Sadly its not hard to believe at all.
Years ago I went through a hacking episode. Just a bit of context. I “think” it was from my mail being compromised and a keylogger got onto my computer. We’d literally just sorted it out and redone the authenticator on live chat with the GM’s (who were superb) and my account details literally got changed by the hackers while I was on the live chat.
After this they gave me very very detailed instructions on running AV / malware checks and said get back to us when you’re done and we’ll restore your account. I did this and got my account restored.
A week later, the US (not EU) Blizz gets a ticket (I could see it because I got a notification) and it was pretty much in “Chinglish” - excuse the phrase. And on the basis of that they gave my account away to the hacker.
So yea, stuff happens…
Bet your friend was trying to use a cheat that had a keylogger…
