Hi,
I transferred a couple of characters from this account to a second account. I already knew all the account wide things wouldn’t go over, like transmog appearances but figured i could just farm them again.
I ran some raids last night and today and only a few of the items i am looting are actually adding to the transmog wardrobe. Why am i not able to get the appearances back when i am getting the items again?
If you transfererred the characters to WoW account which is on same battle.net account then you should have the transmogs already as they are, as far I know, Battle.net account wide (much like mounts etc). So check your collections.
Could you define exactly what “second account” is?

ok to clarify, so you can transfer a character between accounts which can be played at the same time- you need to make it a separate account but under the same name as the origional account (email etc will be different as it doesnt allow duplicates). so you have 2 separate battle net accounts which you can transfer a character between. What you do not get is the account wide items and achievements. you can still fly, but only on the transferred character.
Any character specific items will carry over. Transmog appearances do not.
My problem is, i am now trying to get all the transmog appearances all over again since my character no longer has them (theyre still on my 1st account). I am getting some of the items that drop to add to my wardrobe, but there are loads that just will not add to my wardrobe (the text would usually appear in yellow saying "this item appearance has been added to your wardrobe).
short version: had loads of transmog stuff on my 1st account. moved a warlock onto a new separate 2nd account. no transmog stuff in wardrobe. Tried doing legacy raids for the gear again but only a few of the cloth/weapon items that dropped, will actually add to my transmog wardrobe.
thanks
Why didn’t you use the same battle.net account.
Only items a character can use or is their main armour type will be added to transmog. For instance a shaman can only add mail armour and weapons they can equip to transmog.
Whoever told you that you need two seperate Battle.net accounts to be able to play using multiple accounts at same time was wrong. You can have multiple WoW accounts under the same Battle.net account and play them at the same time.
As for your problem with two different Battle.net accounts, no idea what could cause that. Remember that if you are using a cloth user to farm for stuff you only get transmogs from cloth armor (or weapons) which are actually usable by that character so no plate or mail transmogs. Same for the plate users: they only get plate transmogs.
because i wanted to have characters from both accounts logged on at the same time, which you can’t do if you keep them under the same battle net account.
I know about the transmog stuff, thats why i cleared it up about it being a warlock and the fact i was getting cloth drops that wouldnt add to my wardrobe.
You are wrong. You can log on to different WoW accounts at the same time even if they are under the same Battle.net account. I have done that in the past myself and you can try it yourself if you create a new trial account and use it at the same time.
i have more than one account linked to my main Bnet account. i can only run one of them at a time. if i try launch a second copy, it kicks me out of the 1st. which is why i made the second separately
Actually you can, I do it, you just need 2 Warcraft accounts or more, you can have up to 8 Warcraft accounts on one battle.net account and you can play them all at once.
Edit: If you ticket Blizzard they might be able to move the account to your main battle.net account
Are you trying to use of Classic account by accident? Classic accounts are bound to specific WoW account so you can’t run both Classic and normal WoW at the same time unless they are on seperate WoW accounts. With multiple WoW accounts there are two dropdown lists: left one contains realms (PTR, C lassic etc) while the second one contains the WoW accounts.
If it is not Classic account then problem is somewhere on your side: I just started my normal WoW account and some old trial account and logged in with chars on both without any issues.
eh? i tried that first and as soon as i tried logging into my battle net on a second PC, it booted me off on the first pc.
regardless, the transmog issue is my main problem, as im really confused why i cannot get the transmog items to add to wardrobe.
and no, lol its not classic, much as i loved it back then- i just dont have to to play that and retail.
Warlock is 120. had tonnes of transmogs in wardrobe. swapped to new account, now have about 10 items. tried running some draenor and TBC legacy raids. got a bunch of cloth items and weapons. only a few of them got added to my wardrobe. thats as simple as i can put it
Ah, you should have said that you were using two different computers rather than running two instances of WoW on the same computer. I think using same battle.net account on two different computers is prevented.
also, thank you all for trying here, really appreciate the help
you need TWO accounts to log into both and as I said you can have EIGHT account on one battle.net account, you don’t need a second PC, you can do it on one PC.
Edit: there is an option in the battle.net app to allow multiple instances of it.

i have 4 copies of wow on my primary account. i wanted to run a second PC with wow on it and just stuck a 120 from my main account on there. to run on a 2nd pc i needed a separate account as it does kick me off saying im logged in elsewhere if i try my Battle net login (its fine on same pc but not on a 2nd one at same time).
The issue i have is the transmogs though, i have the warlock on the 2nd account now. i have run the raids, got cloth drops and maybe 2 or 3 get added to my transmoggable wardrobe, the others do not. even equipping them did not work (despite being BoP they should have added automatically)
You can log in using the Wow.exe file in the _retail_
folder.
I believe that option allows multiple instances of Battle.net desktop app on the same computer (eg. if you have multiple users with different user accounts).
Re: Cowbung
The transmog thing sounds weird. Just to cover all the bases, did you check your transmog collections in case you had them already for some reason?
If not, it sounds like a bug and I doubt GMs or forum blues here can help other than point you to the bug report function. Just to cover all things I would also check the collections with a cleared UI as addons can cause the weirdest things…
Hello all! o/
Just to speak on the transmog issue which seems to be the main concern, that does sound weird. It’s not something we can really check out through the forums so if you have not done so already, I would make an ingame ticket to our GM team so they can take a quick look.
They may not be able to solve the issue as it depends on what’s causing it but they can at least take a look to see if there’s something being missed. Just make sure to include the name of an item you have which is not being added to the wardrobe of your second account. Fingers crossed it’s something that can be sorted
