Account Wide Reputation

At least for old expansions this would be nice and would give no advantage.

Exactly my point. I don’t think the current ones should be shared until it’s “old” content, but everything from vanilla to (currently) Legion could be shared, because that would just be a quality of life change for us players. I do think they should implement an option for us whether we want it to be shared or not, and that would actually be nice all way round, not just for reputations but achievements and the like as well, so you have an option to progress on one character only, nothing shared or given if you want it.

The recent changes to rep were pretty good and fixed most rep issues. Exalted counter is account wide, mogs are no longer rep locked per alt etc. All welcome.
I think most items sold by faction quatermasters should be Account Bound though, especially recipes (which are mostly for mogs anyhow, few use current crafted gear let alone old expac crafted gear for anything other than transmog). Recipes are the only reason to re-grind a rep now and there should never really be a need to grind a rep more than once per account.

I wouldnt mind that, dont get me wrong, but reps in their current state are absolutely useless, you get drowned in epics before you reach revered with any faction …

I am not saying there were super useful, but during TBC/wotlk I remember always going for at least 1 item from reps that I knew was superior to HC dungeons or any other source … later it gets replaces with PvP/raid gear but early reps were always useful …

I have 2 professions, 1 is enchanting and aside from reducing the material cost reps are useless and the other is JWC with no rep based recipes … every location now has BoE themed mounts from mobs and I am not even talking about reps like CoA/tortila/campaign … reps are utterly useless …

There’s a couple things from past expansions that I really liked when it came to reputations and alts.
In Wrath of the Lich King the old style Commendation badges were a big help catching up with rep.
In Mists of Pandaria you have the Grand Commendation items, so once you hit Revered with one character you could get a really nice bump in the amount of rep you were earning. Made getting to Exalted that little bit easier but really helped with alts.

More recently you’ve got the new style Commendation tokens during Timewalking events, used a couple of those myself to finish off my Anglers rep.

Personally I like some of the ideas you’ve all come up with in here though and the discussion itself, having it as an option to share or not depending on your personal preference is pretty cool as that way you can have “your characters are a team” thing going on or keep it as individual characters with their own progress.

Yes, I liked the commendation system as a compromise, and I would also accept Rep Transfers, where a character could buy BoA tokens to send to alts, carrying some part of their rep with them. But

not so much.

This choice faces the same problem as many others - say, flying, or Ironman. If flying is in the game, I can still choose not to fly, but I just feel silly, knowing I can fly but deciding day after day to handicap myself. Also the reason my Ironman character is still in her 40s since WoD.

If all account-wide junk was removed from the game, I’d rejoice, and happily pay for multiple Mammoths, which are the only things I’d miss, but I’d feel silly opting to separate characters when everyone else still had them joined. I had a lowbie PvE twink before. I liked to see how many achievements and titles I could collect on him. I could do it again, but in a game where every level 1 can be “The Exalted”, achieving “the Diplomat” means nothing.

This whole account-wide, phasing bullsheit needs to stop.

Yeah bringing back badges or reputation on kill tabard effects would give people the chance to catch up on alts.

But making reps accountwide would break the immersion for new characters for other people. If i am playing a new character it would make little sense that i would be exalted with the ebon blade and the argent crusade in northrend while i literally just stepped off the boat to get there

+1 there are alot of other options. but account wide stuff shouldnt be one of them as it often ruins the fun of having new characters. Stuff like account wide gold or rep should never happen. I don’t want to start a character with most things exalted and with 1 million gold

Honestly reputation tabards for most reputations would make sense. I always love slapping any of the major city tabard on and seeing those blue rep numbers show up when doing dungeons on new characters.

I’d say I’ve already argued against those points in my post.

i disagree

i suggest a account wide-rep buff 100-200% to alts once you achieve exalted with your main.

I disagree.
I’m levelling new char just for profession, and i have to do again the footholds, the campaign and huge grinds to revered/exalted just to get rank 3 for a recipe.
It’s very boring and a huge waste of time that i cannot devote to other things like pvp or old content.

I have to say that when I consider how much work the reputations (mostly talking about the ones from previous expansions/basic game) took on the character I have spent most time playing, I feel little demotivated to invest time and effort into characters I’d actually like to play. It’s silly stupid nonsense of a problem, but that is a thing that actually slightly upsets me about this game - not whatever is trending these days.

Oh…that and, well - I’d really like challenge sets and mage tower weapons to return.

character widde things doesn’t prevent it
reason why ppl have multiple alt is NOT that all those things are acc wide

but that most classes are bland and uninteresting, fun spells were pruned

I still don’t get why everything has to be account-wide. Where’s the fun of having one main? One char with most exalted factions, unique mounts and with super cool titles.

Now you reach a certain level on an alt , and POOF, everything is there. Riding around on a PvP-rewarded mount >< c’mon with a title that was relatively hard to get - once a long time ago.

Make all classes equally fun again and the need of account-wide things rapidly disappear? Let’s dust off the “let me get my main”-concept please!

Yes so let’s dumb it down even more shall we???

Yes! That’s my Rep Transfer idea exactly!

For bonus points, they could require custom scrolls made and sold by Scribes, if they weren’t so dead-set on killing professions.
