I got an achieve in archeology. Logged in after a small break and the achieve is nowhere to be seen. Like i did not earn it and have to do it all over again.
Do they get updated? How come they dont instantly go into a database the second we achieve something.
This really ticked me off considering the sorts of roll backs and set backs i have been subjected to.
You shouldnât lose an achievement overnight, that sounds more like something bugged.
Some achievements are removed with new expansions and become feats of strength or Legacy. Some can still be earned after they are moved to Feats and others are no longer possible to attain.
I am not aware of any archeology achievements having been removed. Iâve even farmed some of the Pandaria ones this expansion.
Found a pristine archeology item in suramar. Got the achieve for it. Saw it. Took a break. Came back and now the achieve is nowhere to be seen. I have to do it ove again.
This, taking away of things, happens to me all too often. It is almost a daily affair. Whether it be achieves or whatever. Their databases are not updated often enough or not at all.
I take frequent breaks so log off and when i come bak on it happens. As if they dont bother updating what i had achieved and rely on old data from a snapshot from 10 min ago.
I log in and my bags are not the way i left them. They are in a state of 15 min ago.
Looking at your achievements, it might be possible that itâs been replaced by the next in the series. You collect one pristine item, then you collect five, the âfive pristine items collectedâ achievement appears instead.
Similar to how you canât see your Level 10, Level 20, etc. achievement until you click Level 60 and you see the âbreadcrumbâ achievements within it.
Is it possible that this is a different character to the one that did it originally in 2018. Because the achievement would pop up for finding one rare but it will not give you new score or overwrite the old one.
The only reason I ask is that the achievement for getting one rare is âSurveying the Landâ and you got that in 2018.

Let me clarify some misconceptions about achievements.
Achievements today in Retail are account-bound, but those account-bound, except special ones like meta-achievements, mounts, pets, etc. do not replace character-bound achievements.
Account-bound Achievements are built on top of character-bound achievements, without replacing them.
This means when you earn an achievement for the first time you earn the achievement for both that character and your account.
But after that, you are still able to do again the achievement with another character in wich case you only gain the achievement for that character, not the account, because you already have.
So given that you already did this achievement in 2018, it means you have earned now the achievement for a second character, and probably you are looking in a section of the UI that does not show the character achievement because it is hidden by other account achievements, maybe because it shows the account date over the character date, maybe you have another achievement in your account that hide that achievement, or maybe the part of the latest achievements only show your latest account achievement.
My last break was WoD and been playing since before Achievements were a thing and Iâve only seen something like this once.
When they remade the Ulduar raid I lost the Glory achieve due to no longer having the one where you fry the Dark Iron Dwarves with that dragon boss (canât remember the name just now). But I went and logged in the char (my hunter) who had achieved it originally and it popped up again as soon as I logged in.
So this is a rare thing and usually can be sorted somehow.
Also it could be that there is now a grey (unachieved) Achievement to Collect 10 of these things. Sometimes they got Colletc 1, collect 5 or 10, collect 25 or 50. Each is a separate achievement, sometimes with the same name and sometimes with a new name.
If the achievement is grey it shouldnât hide a complete achievement. But an achievement is only grey if it has never been completed by any character.
For example, if your only character is level 15 you should see level 10 achievement as completed and level 20 achievement as incomplete, but I think if you have already a level 60 character you will only see the account level 60 achievements because an account-completed achievement does hide previous achievement, no matter if the character completed them or not.
I just looked up the achievement âGot my mind on my moneyâ. It is grey but is the âLoot 100,0000 goldâ version worth 80 Achi Points. I have earned the 100g, 1000g, 10,000g (and whatever other amounts) versions of this but they arenât showing in my list of achievements.
Are you sure? Your forum profile shows that you earned âLoot 100,0000 goldâ achievement back in 2019, so, it shouldnât be grey. The grey one should be the one for 200,0000 gold. So, in your UI you should see 100,000 gold as completed and 200,000 gold as incompleted.
I canât test that achievement in particular because I already complete the last one but on quest achievements, I have 2500 world quests as grey but the previous one, the one for 1000 world quests is in my list of achievements. The previous ones, the ones for 50, 200, and 500 world quests are the hidden ones.
OK, so logged into Gram (was looking on an alt earlier).
Gram has both a grey and bright Achievement for this. He has the 100,000g worth 70 points and the grey 200,000g for 80.
So I guess the OP needs to be logging in the char that found that item for this not to be the issue. He probably did.
