Hello! I tried to resolve an issue with Blizzard support, but in the end, they said they couldn’t do anything and that I should report the bug (which I did). After that, support directed me to this forum.
I’ve encountered an unpleasant bug, and I would like to fix it because it’s causing me a lot of trouble. When I accepted an invite to a random dungeon, my game froze on the dungeon loading screen. I don’t remember if I got disconnected or if the game restored itself afterward. As a result, all the spells on my action bar in the dungeon were reset.
Since this incident, every time I enter a random dungeon, my action bar becomes the dungeon’s action bar. What I mean is: if I move something in the action bar outside of the dungeon (like a new active trinket), I will have to do it again when I enter the dungeon—for the dungeon’s action bar. This works in reverse too.
It’s worth mentioning that this bug does not occur on other classes. It only happens with my mage (the character who had the problem with the dungeon loading screen) and ONLY in the spec where this first occurred (Frost).
After contacting Blizzard support, I did the following things:
I’d try entering a follower dungeon as Frost, and do all the loadout BS in there, delete them all, make a new one, etc. Then exit and see what happens.
You could also try speccing not-frost, entering the follower dungeon, switching to frost and leaving, (and the reverse) to see what happens.
I tried what you suggested. There’s some progress. The bug hasn’t disappeared, but something has improved:
I created talent set A and an identical talent set B (identical so I could switch between them instantly). I changed a few spells on the action bar in talent set A and then entered a dungeon. Of course, nothing updated, and the old set of abilities was in the dungeon. I switched to talent set B and then back to talent set A. And all the changes were pulled through!
I conclude that, for some reason, my changes stopped syncing automatically when entering and exiting dungeons. Do you know how I can adjust this setting? Is there a command for this?
There’s a couple sync settings, none specific to dungeons that I’m aware of, you could try playing with them in AdvancedInterfaceOptions and see if that helps at all. That said, you did a cvar_default which should have turned them all back on.
I tried different settings in this addon that could be related to the issue (synchronization settings, settings for LFG, etc.). Unfortunately, nothing helped me
Do you have any other ideas on how to fix this bug?
No, sorry. Everything you’ve mention/tried indicates to me that it’s a problem on Blizz’s end. Could try re-opening your ticket with Blizz and see if they’ll escalate it.
There’s also a chance that server transferring will fix it, or renaming the character, or deleting it and restoring it (not sure if that service has been fixed since they implemented warbands).
Not sure if you have access to a 2nd computer but, if you do, testing it there could definitively prove it’s not a problem with your machine.
I have the EXACT same issue, also on Frost Mage! Nothing helped. Countless tickets, Bug report, Forum posts… My character is unplayable and there’s nothing I can do.
