I tried playing a bit of retail wow recently. Action Combat and Interact Key are awesome on a PS5 controller.
Currently I leave half of loot drops in a dungeon because some bodies are too difficult to right click (hovering it with touchpad simply doesn’t pop up the loot cursor and you need to wiggle around with mouse and movement and you simply don’t have enough time for that when you lvl with competent group). With interact buttons on retail it seemed too simple to be true. It just pops up when you are close enough. You also don’t need the utility ring, to use quest items etc.
I use tab targeting (R2 for enemies and L2 for friendlies) in wotlk. In dungeons it is good enough. But during battlegrounds, it is nerve wrecking to quickly change targets with tab targeting. Action Combat on retail makes it insanely simple.
Maybe blizzard could add these insanely awesome features to wotlk classic? Pretty please!
you want them to add features that change gameplay for everyone so that their PC game will be more convenient for you on a PS5 controller, or am i missing something here?
You chose to play with a terrible control method, theres no need to change the game for that. Map your controls better. RB and LB for left and right mouse and right analog for cursor movement. That works just fine for doing everything you need in the game. It is slower, than on mouse and keyboard, but what did you expect…
I think you summarised it perfectly - a game designed for a keyboard and mouse will not work well with a PS5 controller - don’t expect it to.
Although I do have a keyboard I made for raiding MC in Classic that has a guitar foot pedal with the wires soldered to the 1 key to key bind for shadow bolt - worked well
It’s optional feature. You need to go to settings and manually activate it (if you want it). So, no. it does not “change gameplay for everyone”.
That’s an opinion. I think it’s a superior method for couch play.
Well, people played Nostalrius on square resolution, but blizzard added support for other screen resolutions. Is that bad? If you don’t like it, you change it back.
Thanks mister, I could have never thought of that /s
The problem is that if there’s corpses on top of each other, it doesn’t work anymore. Even with mouse there are spots with mixed mob sizes where it is difficult to loot really large piles of bodies.
It works. But it could work better. Why you hate it so much? Would it do smth bad to you? Why are you so toxic?
It was designed for keyboard and mouse, but it does work really well with a controller too. I think you are too hurt cause you can’t use one. Or just toxic PC master ace.
ConsolePort and Immersion addons with Action Combat and Interact Key is very nice combo. I think it is good enough to ship as a console game. I even know few people who would love to play it like that.
Yeah I’ve seen ppl doing this and it actually looks a lot of fun, so I’m not against the idea per se, the fact ppl can enjoy the game is just good. I just think it’s a really complicated thing to add features into a game like this, even if they’re optional, because it can have a lot of unintended consequences. Especially when it’s for such a small part of the population.
Cooler thing would be if they just went with it and redeveloped a wow classic for console/steamdeck etc!
What? I’m not being toxic, don’t get so worked up over valid criticism. I know a controller is a neat option on couches, I used one myself when I broke my leg and couldn’t sit well. That is why I suggested “RB and LB for left and right mouse and right analog for cursor movement” and claimed it work just fine, because it did.
As to if this would do something bad to me, yes it would. Even talking about it now is bad, because people might get the idea that this is a valid way to play this game and they might start doing it themselves. Due to the limitations of the controller, this might bring more incompetence to groups I might be a part of and I would have to deal with them. So yes, this might affect me directly, not certainly, but it is a possibility.
I can’t stop anyone playing like this and if you want to then go ahead, I can only hope this method of play wont make it to anything aside from leveling alts.
Sounds very cool. Microsoft might go for that if they buy Blizzard, but currently, I think Blizzard denounced rumours about Console edition.
I would definitely love seeing more created out of Warcraft content. And I hope for more crossplay capabilities (pc/console/mobile, alliance/horde, server/realm). The most horrible thing I know is when you play the same game with your friend, but you can’t play together because of some random reason.
Sorry for calling you toxic. It just feels like being attacked by bunch of negativity just for making a suggestion
While I was grinding Nexus (71-73lvl) we did encounter some people that you could call “incompetent”. One guy couldn’t keep up, so leader kicked him out in the middle of dungeon and we finished it with 4. I think that guy just wasn’t ready for such hardcore play. Maybe he was new, or doing something else IRL. I don’t know, but the problem was not in the control method, but in the person that was controlling his character.
If you really want to have “competent” people, you should find some friends in the game. It’s way more fun than expecting something from random stranger that you discard after finishing you task.
Still not worth investing time and loads of money into developing a brand new optional UI and game play mechanics and features just because less than a hand full of people want to turn WoW into an action combat MMORPG where they can play, using a controller, because that’s exactly what they’d need to do in order for the game to work perfectly with a controller, be it Xbox or PS. They would have to literally re-make the game, bar the graphics etc, for an ‘optional’ feature only a tiny percentage of players would bother using.
People demand and suggest a lot, but never consider the effort, time and money that has to go into the things they demand or suggest. The consequences of developing something new that doesn’t work or isn’t wanted by the majority means losing money. A lot of money.
If you and anyone else want action combat and controller options, you should look for games that offer those mechanics and features by default.
