Do you guys think Blizzard should revamp all of the old racials? Both passive and active abilities? Yes or no and why?
If they are disabled in high end content, then why not.
They should add more racials and turn them into something similar to current talent system
- passive tier
- active tier
- utility tier
Passives are fine as they are tiny. All racials need to be changed from really strong combat and pvp stuff to interesting utility racials like the zandalari and vulpera
Racial are Fine.
they should buff wisp. Like when you kill night elf and they become a wisp, they can kill another player instant.
Yes.
I’m tired of seeing people justify their racial choice based off of an ability.
I think it actively clashes with the philosophy of an RPG where player choice is an essential part of the experience.
Things like Dark Iron Mole Machine and Nightborne portable Mailbox (can’t remember the name) are fine since they’re quality of life additions and can be supported by lore for that race, but Every Man for Himself and Hardiness are two examples of terrible additions.
I only started using racials in the last few weeks (a near-wipe in tol dagor showed me the importance of them), and I like them, but the AR ones do seem better.
There will always be min/maxers who choose races for the racials, but I don’t think actives need to be nerfed.
Well~ Yours cant be nerfed more
Poor EMFH is a joke right now
Does the job fine for me as a casual PvEer. No clue about PvP but you have the trinket.
Fun fact is that they partially share CD so you cant use one after another.
45sec if I remember correctly
Meaning that orc have free pvp talent that is 20% shorter cc where Human have longer cd version of Medallion that does not break all cc
Better than sharing 100% of the cooldown no?
Agree. I think there should be a “racial talent tree” like the current one, with fewer tiers mind but combinining the PvP talents as well, so you have a “three choice” bit and a “pick a passive from a small number of options” bit.
The “three choice” part would be actives. Let’s say there’s three tiers, with one being unlocked at creation.
The “Pick one of many” would be passives, again you start with one, but can unlock two more.
You’d unlock the extra slots at certain level thresholds by doing quests that expand on your race and their current efforts/history, so for example for Alliance Pandaren one of them may involve actually building a new monastery for the tushui to operate out of as oppsoed to squatting in the Earthshrine.
The racials woud largely retain their current theme. You have one or two that are performance related and the rest are QOL. So the first tier of the actives would be the performance options, same for the first tier of passives. The unlocked ones would be more quality of life.
Let me give an example!
Pandaren Racials - Alliance
Tier One - Performance Available at Level 1
Quaking Palm -as current
Anticipation - 2 min cooldown. Activate to assume a defensive stance for 3 secs. If you’re struck by a melee attack during this time, you launch a powerful kick at the opponent knocking them a great distance backwards.
Swift like the Wind - 2 min cooldown. Activate to increase your dodge chance by 100% for 2 secs. During this time you take 40% less magical damage.
Tier Two - QOL Actives
One Good Spread - 1 min cooldown - Lay out a Picnic at target location, allies can click the picnic to sit and eat, restoring 20% of health and mana a second. The picnic cannot be clicked whilst in combat or within 10 seconds of being in combat. The picnic lasts for up to 15 minutes. Only one picnic can be active at one time.
Medicinal Brew - 2 min cooldown - Chug the brew to remove all curses, poisons, diseases and magical debuffs on you. Cannot be used in combat or within 10 seconds of being in combat.
Contact Grummle - 30 min cooldown - Summons a Grummle contact who hangs around for 2 minutes. You can use the Grummle to access the auction house, your mail, repair your gear and buy tradeskill reagents.
Tier Three - Largely cosmetic Actives
Fishing Raft - 1 min cooldown - Summon a fishing raft over a body of water that you can click to ride and move across the surface of water at running speed. You can use the fishing skill whilst on the raft. The raft will disappear if not utilised for at least 1 minute.
Banquet Table - 1 min cooldown - Lay out a banquet table, allies can click the table to take a seat, engaging in an eating animation and refreshing the duration of any well-fed buffs they currently have. The table will disappear if not utilised for at least 1 minute.
Expert Training Rig - 1 min cooldown - Place an expert training rig. You can talk to the rig to set it up as a single hostile/friendly target equal to your level, a single boss target, or between 2-5 small targets. There is also an option to activate the rig to allow you to damage/heal the rigs akin to a training dummy. Upon the dummy not being interacted with for at least 10 seconds, it will go back to neutral mood, allowing you to reslect options. The rig disappears if not used for at least 1 minute.
Passives - Pick One option each tier
Tier 1 - Performance
Epicurean - Same as before
Fast Foodie - When affected by Well-Fed, your movement speed is increased by 8%.
Drunken Brawler - You no longer experience negative movement effects when drunk, and the visual penalties are greatly reduced. So long as you are intoxicated to some degree, increase your dodge chance by 2%.
Snack Attack - So long as you have a Well Fed effect that grants you a primary or secondary stat boost, you have a chance when taking damage, or dealing damage or healing to gain 600% increased benefit from the well fed buff for 10 seconds. Can only proc once per minute.
Tiers 2 and 3 - QOL (pick two)
Bouncy - As current
Enlightenment - As current
Gormand - as current
Take it to Go - When eating you receive the well fed buff so long as you have been eating for 2 seconds. You receive the healing/mana restore from food 30% more quickly.
Culinary Quickness - You produce cooking items three times as quickly.
Portable Larder - Your backpack comes with a special pocket you can access from the main backpack tab- this behaves as an additional 30 slot bag that can only store food, drink and cooking reagents.
Good Taste Lasts Forever - Well Fed is not removed when you die and now lasts 100% longer.
Just some examples of how such a system might look.
Reducing the number of “potential performance” racials to simply one active and one passive (and trying to make the QoL stuff largely unwieldy in PvE content with sustained or rapidly occuring combat) would hopefully reduce the racial imbalances as well. For example in my listed options, you can pick a passive offensive buff for Pandaren in Epicurean or Snack Attack, or defensive in Fast Foodie or Drunken Brawler, but you cannot have both. This philosophy would be extended to other races so for example Kul Tirans cannot have their versatility boost as well as their 1% nature and frost resists, they have to pick. This would hopefully ease the gap between races who maybe get one decent passive versus those who have maybe 2-3 that are all useful in some way by forcing them to choose.
A review of the racial system would also invite rexamining looking at several racials to rejig them. I’ve suggested QoL changes to Well Fed via other Pandaren “racial passives” but for example even if this system wasn’t introduced, they really should consider rolling a “you get well fed more quickly” at the very least to Epicurean. That or a “lasts through death” to prevent it being almost pointless in stuff like BG PvP.
Bring freedom of choice to races, disable or re-work racials so we can be more aligned/ equal to other races of our/the enemy faction. the 1%'s and racial stat actives do matter much more than people think #Changemymind
No.
Belf racial or nelf racial being changed into something utterly useless or generic would just be another reason for me to quit the game.
DO NOT TOUCH MY SHADOWMELD! Over the years I have seen them touching it one way and other and 2/3 times it was as good as BfA main plot, so I rather take that meld we have now instead them trying to “fix” it.
no they’re not.
Everyone is 1% racial.
when peopel tell orc or troll is superior as racial, when you check it in overall of 5 mn fight, they are all 1%
There’s no superior race
Only choice of gameplay and customisation
LoL, i guess everyone really really really love the nelf model over the fat humans or the worgens as a pick for their druid, and shadowmeld has no weight in it at all.
I was nightelf before it was cool…
