No, its not a “technicality”, by any stretch of the imagination. No more than being dicorved is a “technicality” when you answer a question about your marital status with “married”…Oh, she divorced me, but that´s just a technicality 
The previous company, “Activision /Blizzard /King” does not exist anymore. There is Activision, There is Blizzard, And there is King. And Microsoft owns all 3, and could turn around and sell or close any one at any time with zero impact on the other 2.
Activision has as much to do with the current day to day workings at Blizzard as Wal-Mart, in fact probably less, becasue Wal-mart at least purchases and stocks their products when physical copies exist.
