Activision-Blizzard: Turns out firing 800 people was bad for business, we didn’t think about the consequences

So instead of finding solutions to problems they get rid of problems creating more problems in a ripple effect.
Sounds familiar?

I’m sorry this is going to sound very cantankerous of me but i rather read peoples own thoughts then watch a vid of a guy .

I just say that Bellular is more objectively than Babyface, if we will watch videos.
People have been layoff , as it happens in big companies every day.

Btw do you guys know what a Managerial decision is ?

they’re huge decision that might have a positive impact or a negative one, usually they’re really important, so thanks for telling us something that you could know what reading a definition.

If you just want to know what has been said by Acti-Blizz instead of having to watch a drawn out video to fund some youtuber:

  • Blizzard may not be able to “realize the expected financial and operational benefits” of the restructuring plan
  • cuts could have a negative impact on business
  • “the actual savings and timing for those savings may vary materially based on factors such as local labor regulations, negotiations with third parties and operational requirements, some of which are beyond our control”
  • Blizzard is concerned about the cost of implementing the plan and that it could be “disruptive to our business or have other negative consequences”
  • Blizzard believes there may be “attrition beyond our planned reduction in workforce or negative impacts on employee morale and productivity”
  • The company warns that the above could impact “our ability to attract and retain highly skilled employees”
  • Blizzard isn’t ruling out the possibility of another restructuring plan

Heels has been putting on the weight and looking increasingly ill ever since he started churning out these Blizzard hate videos. I know that he makes his YouTube clicks and adsense money by riding controversies but the constant negativity seems to be impacting his health. Genuinly worry about him. Used to enjoy watching him back in MoP.

Oh dear not this again. I appreciate that US business and business law isn’t really taught in the EU but I would have thought that someone running a YouTube channel should at least do some minor fact checking before they spout off nonsense such as this.

What the gentleman in question has done is to take the mandatory 10K report, which is a sort of risk assessment of the worst things that can happen, and spouted it as if it’s some sort of actual prediction by ATVI. To put it in perspective the Coca Cola 10K lists things such as the world running out of water and obese people stopping buying soda in theirs.

Heelvsbabyface (lol that name) seriously needs to calm down. It was a risk assessment report. They always do these. There’s nothing particularly interesting here unless you’re an investor.

This is the sort of content that content creator has resorted to create. Pure drivel and anything that may or may not give a pure negative spin on something. Blizzard in particular.

Not saying that Blizzard is beyond approach as far as criticism goes, but that guy is taking it to the extreme in many of his videos.

Apparently a lot of gaming companies did this, it’s as if the entire gaming businesses are going down the drain.

I do not know if that sounds weird but I think it might had worked better if the people who actually make the decisions and get paid millions to do so were the ones getting salary cuts instead of making 800ish low wage people redundant.
Regardless of what any youtuber says this sounds more reasonable to me.

The thing is. It doesn’t really matter what sound reasonable to you. Since i think we can agree, you and me we don’t know a lot of big business decisions.

And why should the higher ups take cuts to keep people around who don’t have a position in the company anymore, since not only did they lay them of but also removed the job completely

Still desirable if it means theyre getting more developers
Having a shortage of devs means having a shortage of content to or have content that is soulless (warfronts, island Expeditions)
The reason Legion was packed with content and BFA wasnt was probably because they pulled out of Draenor with devs and focussed more on Legion, meaning it probably had more total development time
Legion they didn’t pull out of, so they probably had less devs working on BFA in comparison which would explain the content divide in Legion and BFA so what they say all lines up with what I see
I might sound heartless for this but I feel it is the truth so screw it;
BFA’s content probably had a much larger impact on WoW then firing 800 employees did

you are right that I do not know enough about business to be able to see if that was right or wrong.
I just feel that I see the company as a building where they are cutting away at the foundations while they maintain or increase the load on top.
I hope we do not see a massive collapse soon and that all that was just an adaptation to a change in the climate…

As the guy above said, if we end up getting more people working on WoW than before then maybe it was a right move… I do not know

I want to you to remembers that this were 800 people who were laied off from all activision blizzard teams. Not only the Warcraft one.

In 2012 the Warcraft team laid off 600 employees and they survived it.

You have to see it like that. Candy crush is not doing good , e sports is not doing good. What do you with people working on this ? You can make them Programm new games. So give them a large sum of money and remove their position in place of more developers.
