I have been reading up on PTR and to me it is one hundred percent clear that two covenants are particularly good for arms warriors in pvp in most situations. These are Kyrian and Venthyr, with Venthyr first, followed by Kyrian, These two are followed by Night Fae. They will definitely not be necrolord or night fae, like the other post, “fast guide”, is saying.
1 venthyr , because condemn provides consistent single DPS in pvp compared to ancient after shock and banner which don’t. It also does consistent multi target dps together with sweeping strikes.
2 Kyrian. Potions to heal and remove poisons which can be used in arenas. They may have reduced effectivess, but they grant defence Arms players need in PvP.
Kyrian’s main abiiity, spear of bastion, is a really good ability for its low cooldown (1 min). It snares all in the area and can be used to do single target burst or aoe burst with blade storm and warbreaker. It’s also good for pinning down mages, hunters, monks and demon hunters. Clearly much more useful and much more designed with PvP in mind than the Necrolord banner and the Night fae aoe stun.
- night fae aoe stun on a relatively short (1.5 min) cooldown with high damage and potential upside if the target remains in the area by CC or out of his own will to kill an ally of yours in it.
Keep in mind that we are in beta and soulbinds unique to each covenant are still undergoing changes. However, the strongest soulbinds for each covenant will likely be those that enhance the basic covenant abilities. We can be more sure that the covenant ABILITIES will remain close to the way they are now. Venthyr is designed to be the best single target dps ability, followed by spear of bastion from Kyrian. Since condemn did not receive a change, spear of bastion, necrolord and night fae did, we can be sure that blizzard wants to launch with the covenant abilities like this. Soulbinds that boost these abilities damage will exist after launch, like they do now, and will likely not change the bigger picture.
