The “revamp the old world in parts” approach is something that I hope they’ll do. It would allow them to dedicate fewer resources to the revamp part, allowing us to get new zones for high level content and also opening a way for years of focus on the old world.
And underground dwarven zone would be sick, there’s that too.
Yeah I’m personally alright with 1 continent at a time being revamped, that’s like, potentially 5-6 expansions worth of content for them to do over time. It also means they can focus everything they’ve got on a couple of zones at a time, making them 300-400% bigger, fleshing them out, bigger towns, bigger caves etc. more dungeons, some raids, more quests.
Damn all this theory crafting makes me sad that it won’t be this.
I will also say I wouldn’t want anything black dragonflight related – the game’s got Deathwing’s underground stuff in droves now, especially with DF.
Drogbar, skardyn, dwarves, gnomes, whatever Blizzard called their mindflayers, troggs, aqir splinter races. There’s a lot of stuff to work with.
How about underground zones, but like with lichens and stuff that’ll “simulate” a sky or something like that?

I don’t want anothet subrace of gnome, we already have gnome, mechagnome, junk mechagnome and maybe lepers if we count them.
I was thinking the same, maybe the Skardyn or those new dwarves would’ve taken over Grim Batol amd we’d go there to clear it out, queu start/intro for the new expac.

Leper gnomes are just unwell regular gnomes, and scrap mechagnomes are just mechagnomes behind on routine maintenance
If they’re doing an Underdark they should steal the aspect of Khyber from Eberron - while the upper level is standard stone/dirt/mushrooms/etc. the deeper level is an interconnected maze of linked dimensional pockets/demiplanes.

Cast out for their blasphemous ways to live underground far from the sight of Elune, be it by banishment or spiteful choice, the subterranean domain of the Tel’dorei thrives in the dark. Their rejection of the divine has kept them insulated from the malign influence of the Old Gods through the ages as their dynamic republic boils with the cutthroat politics of power.
There are subterranean trolls as well. They were featured in the cancelled Lord of the Clans game, but were made canon in the Sundering book, those who served Deathwing. They could be dark trolls, who are known to have lived underground. It would be good to find a thriving population of them if we go underground!

Knowing blizzard instead of using an already established race/culture that exists in the game, they will just make a new race and give it some obscure fetish of one of the devs as a defining characteristic. Maybe instead of smelling and sniffing it will be feet this time.
All of the dialogue will be them commenting how you have boots on (unless you are a tauren, troll or draenei) and how you should take them off and how big or small your toes are etc.
Yes, it would be even more degenerate than that knowing Blizzard.
