Adaptive Swarm

Please don’t remove Adaptive Swarm. I like the War Within changes but Adaptive Swarm was such a cool and interesting ability and the new animations look great.

How was it interesting? You press it on CD and that’s it. One of the most boring talents to exist.

how was it interesting, it was just a 25% modifier spell

It is visually interesting, at least. I like it, especially when talented, but understand the reason for its removal.

The entire resto druid dps scheme is dysfunctional. Cat form is essential like maintaining Moonfire and Sunfire, Swipe isn’t even worth using in aoe over simple Rake and Starsurge simply won’t be used on cooldown because of the dots juggling and caster healing.

It is too much much work with shapeshifting compared to other healers who have damaging abilities integrated as a part of their main rotation while for Druid trying to deal damage it feels like an entirely separate thing. Swarm is visually pleasing, fits this playstyle because of its fire and forget nature so I am very sad to see it go. Best of all? Usable in all forms.

There is very little control over the replacement Elder Druid talent(s). What if I want to tank a mechanic or simply increase my movement speed? Too bad if you could have used that healing for something else, try again in one minute.

It’s like Slice and Dice.

A utility buff that makes your dots slightly faster (like slice and dice does for rogues melee attacks.)

Glad it’s going.

It’s nothing like slice and dice.
You may like the ability or not but the difference between good swarm management and pressing it on a random target on CD is huge. If anything, one could argue that swarm management is too complex (amidst everything else going on in a key).

probably he is refering to cycle which is indeed a dumb talent.
not sure if that one is going but making your short hots shorter is really annoying but you need the output.

Cycle is already gone and has been replaced by Liveliness: https://www.wowhead.com/spell=426702/liveliness. No longer short but faster, so you get more ticks.
I agree, cycle was unfun

Adaptive swarm is a really thematic ability, reminds you of the insect swarm ability from classic wow, but it’s not really an interactive ability is it, fire and forget
‘‘Oh but you can time your heals/dots with the bounces’’ etc

Did anyone ever do this? Pretty much everyone just threw it out on rotation and forgot about it

if Swarm worked like Flourish does for Resto it’d be good for Cat. But its just a click n forget ability. Nothing fun about it. Shudve never gotten out of SL.
Hysteria wud’ve been much better.

Convoke is also super boring now, fun when it casts only heals in a dps spec.

Aye, I did mean it’s like Slice and dice, in the sense you just press it on cooldown.

Swarm management is a unicorn. Everyone just fires it off on cooldown. Like slice and dice, or any other maintenance buff.

The thing is, when you press it on CD, the whole party has it on them if you just keep pressing it on CD. It takes a while to get going but eventually the whole party has it if you just press it on CD.

It doesn’t though? Convoke has a fixed amount of form specific spells and a some random spells. It has a way too high variance in its cast but it doesn’t cast “only heals as a dps” unless you aren’t in moonkin/cat form.
Regarding swarms: Most of its management can be done by a WA however this WA only shows you which target has the best amount of stacks on it and you can easily improve it a bit. If, as I understand it, that swarm is just randomly casted on a random target, you lose quite a lot of its efficiency.
