This is how to make the game social again like Classic. For me and many others half the enjoyment of Classic is chatting about a wide range of interesting topics in the /world channel. Dead servers especially NEED this now. The communities idea DIDN’T WORK. First of all it’s a 1000 player cap so all the communities are dead now with maybe 10 people online and one chat message every few days. We need a server-wide general chat channel. It would be a non-stop stream of socializing in-game just like in Classic, something the game sorely needs. It would also create a sense of community again in retail and like you’re not playing a single player game.
It’s amazing how it would take Blizzard no longer than a minute of programming to add an official server-wide chat channel and revive the social aspect of retail, yet they don’t. I guess they don’t want any chat in the game besides boost spam.
They said server-wide, which I assume means the European server. They also mentioned how it could revive dead realms, since a realm-wide chat doesn’t really help a dead realm. So I think they actually meant region-wide. And yes, it would be insanity.
It’d also require a bit of downtime for the players to chat.
Barrens chat was a thing because it took a LOT of time to travel there, as the old zone was massive with only 2 Horde FP’s, none of them being reasonably close to where most quests took place.
Combat was simpler as well, I mean as a hunter you only had Arcane shot and a dot, but even without those you’d just autoshot with the pet tanking for you, meaning you’d have 20 secs for chatting.
Now, all that has changed, quick combat, quick travel, no need to eat and drink…
When are people going to realize that saying this isn’t a dismissal, nor a criticism of an idea?
“I want world pvp” → “JuSt PlAy ClAsSiC.”
“How about relevant proffs?” → “JuSt PlAy ClAsSiC.”
“I’d like more community features like a server-wide chat.” → “JuSt PlAy ClAsSiC.”
…Really, it just makes you look stupid when you say it… Just don’t.
