There should be a class reroll token given to a player once every expansion, just like the boost token, upon purchasing the game, that would transfer all your current gear, experience and reputations to a newly created character. This would prevent players, who usually main a single class, to not get totaly screwed, when Blizzard decide to obliterate it.
The last three expansions came with a free character boost. If someone wants to reroll a new class they can.
The issues with class change (which I assume you want to keep all your progress on, that makes sense) is that all your equipment has an armor class attached to it. You as a Mage wears cloth, if you decide to change to druid, your armour is useless and I doubt there would be a way of it changing to something equivalent, you would likely just get a random set of green/blue as you do the character boost. The same applies to weapons, you may have a staff, wand or dagger, if you became a Paladin then you have no useable weapon.
TL:DR Class change is not as simple as you may think.
It is simple, he’s asking to create a fresh character (deleting the old one) that spawns in Dalaran for instance and that has the same gold, rep, azerite level etc. You can convert the gear into the same ilvl equivalent. Gear from the previous expansions wouldn’t be changed. It would stay as cloth/leather/mail/plate without changing it.
They could make it so only the worn gear you have would be converted.
It’s not the same as boosting a fresh toon, you would still need to grind the rep, the 110-120 experience and the azerite power
It’s kind of easy to get round armour and weapons. All that’s needed is a comparison chart.
I used to be against it, mostly because people would be changing all the time and be noobs, but now since most classes are easy to pick up I’m not so sure.
It is not.
Trinket and azerite are the main issue here. Blizz had and still have huge issue balancing the trait that is very hard to find a 1-1 conversion ratio that really works.
They won’t do it and it’s very clear by the fact that they are massively encouraging alt levelling. Increase char cap, heirlooms everywhere and so on.
I do agree instead on the need to make some stuff account wide rather than tied to a char. Mainly reputation since are requirement for a lot of stuff and things like flying spot, zone access etc.
More like the player is running a team with different pg in it rather than a single character different each time.
Trinkets are either “Use to activate an ability” or “Equip: increase some stat by x for 30 seconds” … it’s not complicated. Most trinkets already provide agility int spirit stamina or whatever if they do depending on the class. The system is very class independent.
Azerite? What’s the issue with azerite. You reset all the azerite traits and let the player pick new ones. You give the player the same azerite power level.
Traits are not equal. Clearly.
If you have to transform my plate shoulder to a cloth one, who decide what you should get? Traits are not the same between classes and not equally distributed within the items.
If you let people decide, everyone will go for bis traits and this class change will be seen as p2w.
News flash, the game has been pay2win ever since they introduced the wow token brother
In which way?
Token gives you gold which at best, is a time shortcut to some things.
Having the chance to pick your bis traits is p2w since it negate the rng factor everyone else has to fight with.
I can see why a reroll class token would appeal. I don’t think it’s something Blizzard will ever offer though.
Rng. It can be crap or godly.
@Bitcoin: I have to agree with Shammoz, it is far more complicated than you seem to think, especially making it actually fair. Because the way you suggest things, it would be better to convert from warlock or rogue to warrior or paladin than vice versa, which would be outright unfair.
I think it should be ÂŁ45 and convert you to a random class
All hail the gods of RNG
Oh dear god no… I can already imagine the rage
All character progress and future Artifact progresses should be account wide regardless.
The game is way too alt unfriendly for the current market
Loot boxes that require a 2,5€ key to open them.
90% chance for barber shop, 8% for a name change, 0,95% chances for realm and faction change and 0,1% for a class change.
Especially if it was enforced, if you got a realm change on character A then character A had to move
Make it armoc class restricted, I don’t care, when in the spawn of 1 patch Blizzard turned my only character into a useless vending machine, I want to have an option to play the game, instead of waiting for 6 months to see a fix.
But are you not the one in other threads saying people need to work and earn for things or have i misunderstood you ?
I like the idea myself but i just think its double standards by you unless ive totally got the wrong end of the stick.
What do you mean? How is it my fault that the character I have spent 40 days and 17 hours at level 120 suddenly becomes garbage for no reason.
