What a fine puzzle this was, I had a blast doing them! I actually had to think about my moves for once. Please add more and make them part of unlocking further questlines. Such an immersive creativity, exactly what we needed in this new refreshing patch!
While you are at it, why not spice things up a bit! Make a bigger version of it, and add a timer to finish it along with Leaderboards so that we can see who has the biggest ego and IQ, you know just like your Choregast feature.
I’m all for adding more things to do in game but locking aspects of the game behind something that not everyone will be able to do is not good game design.
I’ve haven’t done any of these puzzles yet, not that far progressed (only doing the intro quests still with Mograine). The ones with flashing colours are beyond me, I can’t make out the colours.
Have more puzzles. Give them rewards like titles or achievements. Don’t gate story progression behind them.
It’s bad enough they are gating Flying behind opening some chests. I am hoping those teleport gloves (which I should get soon) will allow me to get to enough to unlock flying.
I love the puzzles. Especially the Nazjatar ones.
Could be harder though.
Also wish they could be a toy item so I could do them while waiting for bgs and such.
Nah, you can go Venthyr for most rares/chests. There are 2 questchains locked behind timegate, and a good 4/5 treasures locked behind some “language barrier” research time. You can easily get flying by turning off WoW for a month and saving yourself a sub till everything is out.
I mean, they’re significantly more challenging than any other brain puzzles Blizzard have put into the game, ever.
And you can’t really complete them through luck.
And they are what I would consider an advanced logical puzzle.
There’s a system to them, but until you understand that system, then it’s a major challenge. And even after you do, it’s not a pushover.
And fair be it, Blizzard has done many brain puzzles before.
But this one is maybe a step above the kind of gameplay that WoW is about.
I suspect it will be the most hated quest, because people will spend ages on it and get nowhere and understand nothing, and become terribly frustrated.
The other two types of puzzles are fine. I’m not sure why Blizzard felt they needed this one as well. It doesn’t really add new gameplay, just harder gameplay. But probably too hard for many.
The fugueal is not explained very well, once you understand its requirements it becomes quite easy. The mezzonic has been rather annoying for me, i’m not sure why i struggle so much because we had this puzzle before, back in Legion, in the shaman order hall and quite enjoyed it back then.
It’s enough to look at most of them for like 5 seconds.
It takes more time for me to figure out the maze in mists than this, the problem being that I can’t see all of them at the same time. If I could see them all at the same time like on mistcaller, it would be significantly easier.
That’s subjective.
Yes you CAN skip them, but whether or not what you lose is of no value will differ from player to player.
My opinion is simply this: They went WAY too heavy on puzzles with these treasures. It doesn’t make them feel like treasure now, but rather punishment.
I don’t think 2-4 cyphers per puzzle is of any reasonable value, and that’s pretty much the only thing you lose if you don’t do them. Perhaps you loose out on a WQ when it’s a puzzle one, but… that’s also of very little value in the long run. You’ll reach revered 3-4 days later at worst, the horror.
You’re only looking at it from a rewards standpoint though.
I can skip it, sure. But then there’s even LESS to do for me.
ZM is already barebones as it is. 2 dailies and 2 WQs for me at the moment.
Nothing more. That’s bad.
