Add-on that highlights Healers in PvP

So there’s a very popular add-on people use in PvP called H.H.T.D that highlights Healers with a big icon above their head. I’ve recently started healing again in PvP and have noticed that the instant I cast 1 healing spell, no matter how subtle I am or how far away, the enemy immediately pummels me with 4 or 5 people.

I’m just wondering why this add-on is allowed in PvP? It seems very unfair to be instantly marked for death so easily, with no skill required whatsoever on the part of the enemy team - just chain stunned and dead every time. I know healers should always be targeted first, but I feel that’s part of the challenge, not making it obvious you are healing, being subtle in your approach, hiding behind objects etc… The opposition needing to rely on communication to focus on taking the healer out when they’re spotted - bad players wouldn’t look for the healer and would just keep hitting whatever is in front of them.

Making an add-on that takes away any semblance of skill in this regard is quite frustrating. Now anyone with half a brain just needs to look at the huge glaring icon above my head and boom. And I know people are going to say the game is too easy now anyway, world of casualcraft etc… but I feel this add-on goes too far in that regard.

I’m not really sure there’s a problem with that.

Attacking the healers first is a pretty basic concept in all forms of PvP (for obvious reasons), and someones class and spec aren’t a secret. Even people who don’t use the addon you refer to (i never have), likely still see the class/spec mentioned on either nameplates or arena unitframes or battleground unitframes or whatever. And otherwise they’ll likely either see the heals on a castbar somewhere, see your visual healing animations, or just notice their targets health going up and scanning around manually for healers.

And, even without any of that, they could choose to always attack the same target as person X (in their group), which still results in the same thing happening.

Being a healer in any PvP situation, or even just casting heals from another spec, just always implies you are putting a target on your own back. When i find myself in an outdoor warmode scrap during an assault, as a prot paladin, and i cast a few flash heals to get some nearby people topped off i often find myself descended upon by the entire opposition as well.

Trying to hide or camouflage seems the wrong way to address this imo. Having the people that you’re healing, peeling the enemies off you, is the more productive way to go. And if they’re not doing that, then you’re wasting your time by healing them anyway (thats generally the unspoken trade, you keep them healed, in return for them protecting you).
