The time between black temple release, and Sunwell release is less than half of what it was back in the day. This has meant a lot of guilds farming illidan since week 1, have yet to see a glaive. There is also really good loot that many guilds would be willing to farm from illidan like they did for Gruul, and Vashj in phase 3.
Just the current requirements to reach illidan are so harsh that not many casual guilds can afford to dedicate the time, like they can with Gruul, Vashj, or even binding runs back in classic. If a skip was added straight to Illidan next phase, i think it would be a big improvement to the game, and many guilds would continue to kill Illidan once a week.
I personally believe this would be a very popular change
that would be totally fine with me. Like have the door to mother open, and let us teleport to the vendor. Just the way it is now, my guild has already confirmed there not willing to put in the time.
What do you want a skip for? SWP only has 6 bosses. By the time you’ve cleared it, if you skip straight to Illidan you’ll basically have 1 and a half hours of raid night per week.
given that we’ve seen fairly top tier guilds put 30+ wipes into multiple bosses, i’m expecting progress for us to take some time. Also an hour and a half raid per week at the end of the phase honestly sounds great. The further we go into this phase the lower motivation raiders will have, as everything becomes more and more about wotlk. I think having the final months before prepatch be just logging on once a month to clear, and maintain your raid spot would be awesome.
It’s getting nerfed eventually anyway, already confirmed. And it’s only going to take a while whilst people learn the fights, after that it’s only 6 bosses and they’re also going to get easier with gear: some SWP pieces are insanely good.
Once you’ve gotten the hang of the bosses, you’re not going to wipe 30 times.
And the less time you spend in game isn’t going to help that.
A lot of the player base are already annoyed at the “skip everything!” route that TBCC has taken.
Long story short, you don’t need Glaives to in any shape way or form to clear or play/progress SWP. You are free to put 100% on your raiding time on SWP when its released (or never step foot there and put 100% of your raiding time chasing Glaives - if you feel they are that important).
People who farmed Vashj/TK after the release of MH/BT did it because they had time and because they wanted certain items - not because it was required.
I would have cared if people said that originally we had more time to gear and prepare for SWP, and it was about that. But you want a skip (that was never there) to get a specific shiney you feel entitled to…
