Adding a voicechat button to the standard UI

Hi peeps,

Having social interactions is one of the building blocks of any MMO. I see playing WoW as a hobby - and one that includes social contact. The social contact makes the game fun for me.

I’d personally love a button in direct view in the standard interface which I would just need to press and I’d be in the voicechat with the people in my party. Right now the option is hidden away in the battlenet application. It’s not accessible enough.

Thank you for hearing my idea.

Kind regards,
Zocco

There already is a voice chat button, it’s the speaker in the top left of the chat frame.

Then just hit Join Voice Chat for the group you want to join.

If you don’t have the button due to chat addons you can bind a key to it instead under Key Bindings > Interface > Toggle Chat Pane

Thanks for pointing this out. I had actually forgotten this existed.

The fact that I forgot / didn’t know and the fact that I’ve never known anyone who used this functionality means that this option is not known enough.

I still think making this more visible and accessible is necessary. Perhaps revamp the voice chat icon in the chat. Make it a tad bigger or/and try a color or/and change the transparency. Make it a simple button: click and you’re in party voice chat. Perhaps add a number to it. If there’s 0 people in the voice chat, is says 0. If there’s 1, it says 1 etc. Have it give a little flash when the number changes.

Perhaps include it the tutorial: if you party up with someone - even if that’s already past Exile’s reach, it could be pointed out it exists.
