Adding Epic gems to a vendor for a dungeon farmable currency during DS

The title says exactly what i think would be a good idea.

Now i will open this message with saying that i didnt not play original Dragon Soul, so i have no reference what the acquiring rate of Epic Gems is.

However what i do know is that wow players like to play their characters optimally and that a lot of players will go to extreme lengths to maximise the value from their character.

Now if i understand it correctly Epic gems in Dragon Soul will be a scarsity and they are tradeable as you’d expect. This will mean that being fully BiS gemmed will only be available to the richest of players or the biggest grinders. Now while this isnt necessarily a bad thing i think adding Epic Gems to a vendor for a dungeon grindable currency would be possitive for the player base.

Adding these gems to a vendor would, in my idea do the following four things.

  1. Incentivise running dungeons on geared characters putting more people into the RDF system
  2. Create less player friction around the need to be the best geared possible
  3. Allow players to be as strong as possible and rewarding them for playing the game./
  4. Deincentivise gold buying for the non GDKP players slightly.

I recognise that the last argument is somewhat weak but overall this would in my view just be an easy W for Blizzard and the playerbase.

Hopefully the wow devs get to read this post and it wont get lost in the hundreds of conversation about LFR

this will 100% result to more kicks for the under-geared

Why would you want to spend JP for your epics, when you are guaranteed to get at least 1 epic gem each week just by clearing dragon soul on LFR dificulty?

If I recall correctly, cataclysm was first expansion, which made epic gems pretty useless and easy to farm.

You only have to clear Dragon Soul in any dificulty at least once every week or try your luck with prospecting (yea you read correctly, prospecting isn’t a sure way to get epic gems anymore). On top of that, epic gems are pretty much worthless to even farm after few weeks, since they aren’t much stronger from rare gems.

For example Rare Intellect gem gives you +40 intellect, epic gives you +50 (so not even 1% dps or healing boost), literally only reason why people placed epic gems in cata, was because they either had tons of gold to spend or because they were able to get them completely free or at least at very huge discount.

Epic gems are literally worthless after few weeks, since you are literally able get them just by clearing dragon soul at any difficulty and only thing stopping you from getting any epic gems, is jewelcrafters asking huge tips for making any of them.
