If I remember correctly, Altoholic can show which profession produces the reagent you are checking, but not which ones can use it for their own crafts.
AllTheThings can be parametrized to show you what crafted items, which use that specific material, have not yet been “unlocked” as an appearamce by your account. For example, mousing over a Copper Bar it would show that it can be used by Blacksmithing to craft A, B and C items, by Engineering to craft D, E and F, and by Jewelcrafting to craft G and H.
