[Addon] Simply RP - Looking for RP (LFRP)

Hello AD! I came upon this addon that was released recently by Yssena_Azureblood, who has made previous addons for RP in the past like chat box extenders and typing trackers for roleplayers, and they recently released a new one: ‘Simply RP - Looking for RP (LFRP)’.

It’s been designed with the idea to not only to encourage but to make world RP accessible, something that can definitely feel like a struggle (at least for me) outside of a few cemented cities or ‘hubs’ these days if you do not have a guild or group your character is moving with. It allows you to find and identify where people are advertising themselves as LFRP in the open world, while still remaining immersive and RP-focused!

Simply RP - Looking for RP (LFRP) is a lightweight World of Warcraft addon designed to help roleplayers find organic, spontaneous RP in the world—without needing to rely solely on hubs or pre-arranged meetups.

Version: 10.1.0+ compatible. Just install and start discovering RP around you.

No more being stuck in Stormwind or waiting for scheduled events—this addon allows you to broadcast your RP availability and location in a controlled, immersive way, and discover others doing the same. Inspired by the “message signs” in Dark Souls, this addon keeps things flavorful and RP-focused.

Current Features:

  • Click the minimap icon (or type /lfrp) to open the Broadcast Menu.
  • Construct RP messages using a modular sentence-builder system (Dark Souls-style message templates).
  • Click Broadcast to send your message—others with the addon will see it and can come visit, or whisper you.
  • Broadcasts include your in-game location on the map for easy meetup.
  • Right-click the minimap icon to view a scrollable list of recent broadcasts.
  • Left-click a message to whisper the broadcaster.
  • Right-click to view a map of where the message originated.
  • Cooldown system prevents messages from being resent more than once every 5 minutes. (Client-side validated to prevent abuse.)
  • Silence Mode: Blocks toast notifications while still allowing messages to appear in the list.
  • Quiet Mode: Suppresses new messages entirely until toggled off.
  • Fully configurable keyword filtering system:
  • Don’t want to see guild recruitment posts? Add “guild”, “recruit”, or any other keywords to your ignore list.
  • Messages containing ignored terms are automatically hidden from view.
  • Add or remove any keywords at any time—your filters, your rules.

Planned Features (No particular order):

  • Localization support for non-English clients.
  • More integrated features for popular addons like TRP3.

Note: All users must have the addon installed to send/receive broadcasts.

This just seemed super cool to me, as I’m always looking for ways to bring our big-and-still-small hobbyists together and continue to foster a healthy, long-standing community that doesn’t dwindle to being limited to Stormwind/Orgrimmar and a few other hubs.

Oh, this is actually a pretty cool idea. I hope to see it pick up speed, because there’s been loads of people lately talking about the health of the RP community and not knowing where to find people to RP with anymore. Seeing this addon in use would help guide people towards finding it if they don’t have a foot in the door otherwise already.

That looks pretty neat! Thanks for bringing it to attention. Will certainly download and test it.

Had a brief chat with someone from a rogue guild the other day, and they mentioned one of the hardest things with criminal RP is finding willing victims, who let their characters be stolen from etc. This could be a nice way to let others know if you’re open to such initiatives as well.

“Accept criminal activity” is a toggle you can turn on in your TRP for this exact purpose

I had a look at it earlier, it seems simple enough, very much akin to the short messages you can put down in the Souls games.

The same mod author also has a few other RP focused addons, including a typing tracker and a survival needs addon, to track things like hunger, thirst, sleep etc.

That’s true. I just like the idea of seeing the notion directly on the map, instead of separarely looking for it in each individual’s TRP profile

It’s a decent addon, I just wish the icon was more in keeping with WoW’s standard interface. Something that combines black and brass.

An excellent tool for promoting and generating RP out in the world. Hope to see it become a standard addon for roleplayers on AD!

It’s the default provided by blizzard’s ui library, believe it or not.

I have actually been able to find a few interactions out in the wild thanks to this! Thank you for the handy tool.

Tried it last night in Moonbrook. It took about ten minutes or so, but eventually someone showed up. It does work.

I rarely seem to receive any call-outs though, so I’d like to see wider adoption of this.
