Addons and efficient profiling for alts

Hi all,

I have a fairly niche question regarding Addons in wow.

At present i have around 11-13 alts i log in on daily, sometimes i log in just to do a daily cooldown on a profession, sometimes a little more than that.

I currently have a whole heck of a lot of addons installed that are mostly inactive for example say i have 100 addons i will only be running a selection of say 20-30 on any 1 character, this occasionally differs depending on who i’m playing on.

My question is this:
Is there a way of opting to disable all addons when i need to log all 13 characters 1 after the other quickly for a daily resets that doesn’t require me to then have to manually re-enable my selected addons for every single character?

Quick example for those not understanding
Character A uses Addons: 1,3,5,7,9
Character B uses Addons: 2,4,6,8,10
Character C uses Addons: 1,5,6,9,10

When i disable all addons, i then need to manually reselect the addons i want active for each character and it’s a royal pain in the behind.

The profiling drop down options on the addon window doesn’t fix this, It has to manually be done every time and it’s driving me crazy at this point that blizzard has never implemented a better / up to date system to let players profile addons for different characters to quickly switch between no addons and your profile selection of addons.

Thanks in advance for the help if anyone has a solutions to this.

I hope there’s a more elegant solution, but one thing you can do is:

Go into your wow folder and rename the “AddOns” folder to something like “_AddOns”

Log into the game. All AddOns are disabled.

Once you’re done delete the empty “AddOns” folder that has been created and rename the “_AddOns” Folder back to “AddOns”.

*Fairly simple:

Addons left side of char selection screen.
Than on top of that list:

Drop down menu with all characters you have on said realm.
Select Char A - Enable / Disable what you need
For all other chars, repeat the above.*

tldr didnt read your whole post before typing the above

Log in and every time you log into said character it only has the relevant addons loaded / selected.

You have to log in, on said character after you did the list thing. Than it will save to the characters “wtf” folder. (Yes this works)

I think what he meant was to disable all addons for a period of time, without reenabling all the addons manually after that.

That would be useful for me too !

We want to avoid it per each char with like we select 10 and we at once set which addons on or off.

not 1 by 1 …

Well, my bad then, but i dont see the point.

but what is there to gain?

Disabling all addons vs re-enabling them again per given character surely costs more time than to load the game 13 times with the selected addons loaded.

The timesave of disabled vs all addons enabled especially when running WoW from an SSD is very minor.

totally wrong REEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Point was i think OP is like me he uses XYZ addons for multiple chars /maybe same UI etc.

So instead of setting it 1 by 1 we select 10 at once for example and turn on or off these addons on 10 chars at once.

Wait, so setting it up once is too much work per character? I am trying to understand the major issue?

Or did you want to select 5 characters which use the same addons
And select another 5 characters and select their addons at once?

We are literally talking a few minutes in total over your total gametime of WoW.

ExactlY!

got many chars do UI change and then you have to set it up on all chars… takes a lot of time instead of 1 click.

yes that /10 char

but if you set your addons per character with the ingame addon manager, log in once after setting the addons it is saved.

I literally go “through” your so called hassle when i create a new character and everytime i log in afterwards it is only using the selected addons.

You dont have to swap / enable / disable addons per char everytime you log in.

I stop using X addon i have to click on each char and disable it it gets annoying with lot of chars minor inconvenience but still rEEE.

Yes and then i have to do some on another 12 chars.

Or you have for X test these addons /ui set up and want to “save that addon profile” without need to again select/deselect adddons /make new ui etc.

But it is saved after that initial disable. Or enable.

I want to have 10 adddons on for X ui.

I want to try somethign else i have to turn all off without saving it and start again.

If i am done i can not go back/save /choose between which profiles/set up i want to use.

And if i have more chars i have to go set it up on all other chars again.

LIke Elvui has profiles for each chars/ set up you want to make and it is saved.

We want such things for all adddons as collection “profile” to be saved with how it was set up .

So in case we do soemthing esle/want to use taht addon set up like it is setup on X char you just select profile and you are done.

In that case try the addon “Addon Control Panel” it allows you to create addon “sets”.

Every addon saves its profile aswell on certain chars.

The only problen is the enabled addons per char. Which is saved after setting it.
If you wanna change / try something else you have to disable / enable them.

But thats a set and forget thing for almost 99% of players.

All addons ingame have simple profiles you just click and swap

REEE you dont have chars do you ? and you never set up them did you ?

Why it should take XYZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ times instead of 1 click?

Try do what you said on 10 addons for 1 each char relog next char again, needlessly pointless task solved by 1 click.

I literally play 12 characters.

Once i set their ui up:
I go through my addon list and disable / enable what i want to use per character. Log it in once and it is saved.

Next time i log in, it only loads my selected list.

Than i make profiles for my addons like unitframes / bars / etc which are swapped depending on speccs. (Which is basically automation from said addons. Like gearsets in the wow ui: load x profile when swapping disc or holy)

So i have no clue where your big issue is.
Because i am not disabling/enabling addons per char when i log in.

The game and the addon manager as is, can do that just fine.

So i wanna know where the big issue is?

you dont see it! nothing else to say anyone who sees what op me said gets it .
