Addons suddenly stopped working and now my button is missing

I apologize in advance for my inability to explain properly, I tend to ramble, but I have been playing actively for about a month now, after several months without gametime.
Never had an issue with my addons up until this point.

But now, suddenly my addons stopped working one by one. The past couple days, I have only had TellMeWhen and DeadlyBossMods working here and there, but not at the same time.
Upon logging in, several of my addons gave me an error message in my chat, and I had an error popup saying my addons weren’t working and that it was reccomended I disable them.

This all came completely out of the blue.

I did move my files from My C drive to my D drive right before I got myself new gametime, but that didn’t seem to cause any issues, as I just moved all files as is and relocated them with the bnet launcher, an it was smooth sailing.
The game on its own works perfectly fine, but my addons are straight up dead.

What I have tried so far is to delete all my addons entirely, both from the interface folder and from the curse/twitch client, (as reccommended to me by someone) which is where I got them from. That did nothing.
I saw today I for some reason had WoW installed both on C and D, and the addons were still hanging out in C, which I assumed was the issue.

So, I uninstalled the game in its entirety both retail and classic, from both drivers, and removed all files, then installed again.
The addons show up in the right folder, the _ Retail _/interface/addons folder, they are unzipped and should be working, but I now went from having broken addons to not even having an addon button, even though I did nothing different when installing than I have the other times I have installed the game and my addons.

Does anyone know what I could have done wrong and how to fix it?
I am convinced it’s something I messed up on, but I have no clue what that could have been.
Any help would be fantastic.

(also idk if this is relevant, but I haven’t prepurchased Shadowlands yet, but adding that just in case that could for some reason play a part in things breaking, which makes zero sense to me, but better have all grounds covered)

Are you using the Twitch client to manage your addons? If so, the original issue may have been that it inadvertently installed the Classic version of the addons.

As for where you are now… either you’re launching WoW from a different location than you think you are or you didn’t install the addons properly. Those are your only two options.

I am yes, but I’m pretty sure I used the exact same version as I did the other times, and they are in the retail folder.
DBM has files for bosses all the way up to BFA as well, so even if the others were for classic, it should still recognize DBM as being one of my addons I think?

So sadly, I don’t think that’s the case. I appreciate the guess tho.

I’ll see if maybe I am launching it wrong. Got any ideas how to check that or fix it? It’s only installed on my D driver now.

Try the Overwolf Client, it reportedly handles things better https://curseforge.overwolf.com/

Launcher > Gear beside Play button > Show in Explorer

I tried that, and sadly, the results are the same, and I now also have a mysterious second file folder on my C drive again. I have the addons both on C and D now to see if that made a difference, and it did not.
My addons are still seemingly nonexistent.

And it is playing from D, which is where it should be

Upload a screenshot of your addons folder (windows-shift-s) to imgur.com or something. Make sure to include the address bar but remove any personal/account identifying information.

Some examples of proper folder structure:

DBM-Core.toc located in
\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns\DBM-Core\

Bartender4.toc
\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns\Bartender4\

Details.toc
\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns\Details\

That said, any addon management tool should be installing them properly unless it’s misconfigured.

Haha… okay so, I have been an absolute idiot this entire time and I fixed it once I realized my very obvious mistake when I went to go grab said screenshot.

My addons installed on C, not D. So I had to delete the mysterious game files off of C, again, and I moved my addons folder from C to D, and I had a random Addons folder outside of interface, and I have been putting my addons in there…

I moved them into the interface folder and now the button is back, and my addons are working without a single proplem.
I had a feeling it was a me problem and not a technical problem as soon as the button disappeared, and here we are. I was the problem LMAOOO

Thank you for the help though, I appreciate it a lot. And I am so sorry for my stupidity. Echh
