How come everytime you do something good you always takes two steps back?
Spamming Zekvirs lair was great for alts after you did delves on your main. Its no fun in doing the same delve several times.
This is the most awful change Blizzard have made recently it’s actually annoyed me to a whole over level. Why? Because the gear gap between a fresh character / heroic dungeon gear and getting into Normal Raids or even a +2 dungeon is inflated so high by delve gear you’re stupid not to do delves because of how good they are.
I have no issue of delve gear and the easy access to gear it provides. It’s great for casual players to catch up on gear. However my issue arises that it’s THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO between the gap of queued heroic dungeons and higher content unless you’re with friends of guilds. Because I get declined on alts that are 600+ ilvl quite often for normal raids and even +2’s just shows how inflated gear is and finding people 600 ilvl is relatively easy. Even if I make my own keys for a +2 once a tank/healer is in the group within seconds 600+ ilvl dps are queuing. So you’re so heavily encouraged to do delves for that gear increase / spike to actually play the game in harder content.
It was nice to do get my vaults done on alts by simply spending 30-45min smashing Zekvir on my alts instead of spending hours doing delves that I don’t want to do. If this change goes live i’m just going to stick to one character which sucks. Because I’m not doing 8 delves each week on my few alts. It’s content that’s not for me and Blizzard isn’t going to make me do them because their metric of people doing delves has dropped and they want people to do them. Another “Fun detected” I guess.
The only reason to do Zekvir over delves is because time and fun. Play as little as possible. It’s more fun to spend less time than 120 minutes a week, half asleep for heroic equal gear, apparently.
They did, it’s called T8 delves. They aren’t more difficult than Zekvir, they just take a little longer. I’ve completed T8 delves on newly dinged 560 alts, and comfortably.
Zekvir vault farm was making it time effective to gear alts, especially with the 4 key per week limitation on bountiful delves. Zekvir is not easier than a T8 delve, but it does take less time. Spending less time doing what has become a “chore” allows you to spend more time doing what you want.
If it was my choice, enchants, gems and consumes would be nearly free relative to passive gold income (see Cataclysm/WOTLK Classic), and my time would be spent mostly doing meaningful content. Delves stop becoming meaningful content very quickly when the gear requirement to beat the difficulty for the highest reward is equal to that of a newly levelled fresh char.
There is absolutely zero progression with delves, even before they nerfed them into the ground I was clearing them with sub ilvl570 on T8.
People who do Zekvir over delves are saving time for other fun content, like M+ and raiding. They are opening some easy extra options in the vault by killing Zekvir fast a couple of times. Don’t think they want to play as little. They want to play other content.
I wish they’d reduce the requirements for the third Delves-slot in the vault a bit, having to do just as many runs for the third slot as it takes to get the first and second feels a bit much, especially on alts.
I understand the idea behind the nerf, neither of the other Vault rows has a shortcut like Zek’vir’s lair, so the change had to be made, but fill the slots at 2, 4, and 6 completed Delves then, Delves are more alt-content than the other rows, so making the vault row for Delves a bit more alt-friendly would be a nice gesture.
Agree to disagree then.
The fact is, most people like it because it’s short, compared to a regular delve.
And it was unbalanced in that regard, so the change is a good one.
Both. Zekvir is a pretty fun fight, takes 2mins on a good geared char, 4-6mins on a newly dinged char. T8 delve is 10-15mins unless you speed run it, but they are just annoying scenarios with no exploration element, no fun discoveries or rewards or anything meaningful taking place.
Torghast every run was different, you’d still be gaining new rewards you hadn’t seen before even after countless runs, because they actually put rewards in the damn place unlike delves where nothing you do matters, just complete it asap to fill the box.
I’d much rather do Zekvir, at least it’s an interesting fight.
