Yes but right now there is a precedent of exiles being “welcomed” into the Alliance. The fact that it is a possibility might have them think different of exile, seeing as the risk is there.
Expanding on this a lil’ bit further, I also think it is worth noting that this occurred before the Sunwell was restored at the end of TBC, so openly wielding the void / shadow like that wouldn’t have been viewed as a threat to their very existence.
I wouldn’t know about being guildless as a political stance, but from my perspective there haven’t been any guilds that have seemed like a good fit for me either IC or OOC.
I suppose it depends on what you want out of your RP/time in the game. I know (and have known) a lot of people who prefer to be guildless, because it affords more freedom.
If you’re confident in approaching others and able/willing to create your own stories and RP, there’s absolutely no reason why you’d be limited without the safety net of a guild. Understandably, this works best in populated hubs - Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Duskwood, etc - but a travelling character can work just as well.
I prefer being guildless than to be in some guild and have my guildies interact with me because I’m in the guild.
And then the moment I leave the guild, it changes. Most will just no longer register me.
Therefore I’ll stay guildless and see who judges me not on my guild tag.
