I’m looking to create a character who will play the role of an ‘Adventurer’. The basic premise of this character would be for me to explore the world, getting the ‘Loremaster’ and ‘The Explorer’ titles along the way, as well as doing things such as levelling up fishing etc. I want this character to be an adventurer, rather than a ‘hero’ so I won’t be doing raids etc on it, although may do a dungeon here or there depending on whether it fits in with the adventure he is on.
With that in mind, which race/class do you think best fits this description? Just a basic dude looking for an adventure. From everything I’ve read, I was think of a Pandaren Monk, but would be keen to hear other ideas.
Class wise I’d pick hunter (adaptable, all weapons are hunter weapons, tracking, traps and other tips+tricks) or rogues (lockpicking, sneaking, trap detection, grapple hooks and the like).
Race is pretty much whatever you want, but vulpera are a good shout for when they drop in a month or so
Basically most classes can work, depending on your taste, but first thing that comes to my mind is Hunter.
Having pet companions, exploring around, hunting for beasts and skinning them.
As for the race, i’d say Dwarf. They are THE explorer race basically.
Absolutely hunter. They are survivalists and at home in the wilds, and known for working alone, so they are the perfect world-travellers.
You could be any race, really, but I like Nightborne as a suggestion because they have been isolated for a long time (meaning there is much to explore) and because they have been consistently portrayed ingame as very interested and curious about the rest of the world - even before they became playable.
For the sake of being different to everyone else in the thread and keeping up the tradition of recommending everyone my favourite class whenever I can, I would go for a Mage.
Come to think of it, a Mage is often a person who wishes to pursuit knowledge. Exploring the world, observing magical anomalies of any kind and reading through scrolls/books they find on the way would be just the right description for an adventurer. Any skills they have, such as the possibility of lighting up a campfire or conjuring food would also be useful when they end up in a place with no vendors nearby/have no money on them. Not to mention all the capacity for combat that will for sure be useful when something tries to ambush them!
Speaking of race, as the others have said, more or less anything works.
Thanks guys, so do we think a Pandaren Hunter might work out? I was thinking Pandaren ahead of other races largely because they’ve been more isolated compared to other races (except Nighborne) so was thinking they would have more of an interest in exploring!
Coldshade, you make a really.good argument but my main is already a Mage so I was looking to try out something else .
Would still love to hear other suggestions by the way.
