Advice on party frames for arena please

Few issues i’m having with party frames in arena.
I use Elvui.

  1. I’m using mousewheel up and down for party 1 and 2. If they have a pet and i mouse wheel up 2 notches it will go to the pet.

  2. Combined with this, the only way i know im on the right person is the fine border around the frame selected, which is almost the same colour as the frame itself. If my selection has gone to a pet, there’s confusion if im on the pc or not.

Anyone got suggestions for settings/ a better party frame where i won’t select pets by accident? (despite the targetting keybind saying player 1 and player 2, not edited by moderatorpets.)

Almost all PVP players use the default raid frames for party (checkbox in the settings to use raid frames even for party)

Elvui is for pve or new players, so don’t use it for pvp.

It’s best to target friendly players in arena with “target party X” keybinds from settings, and not to cycle through friendly players with the wheel

Ah, shame, i like using mousewheel as it saved on keybinds.

In arena you need to react really fast, usually a split second decides the outcome of a game.

But if you must know on which target you currently are, and scroll up/down to get to the one you need to save, this will always be much slower to “compute” mentally and you’ll never perform to the best of your abilities. So for arena you could have f.e. “mouse wheel up” set to “target party one”, “mouse wheel down” → “target party 2” and “mouse wheel click” → “target self” keybind. Thus you’ll have 3 keybinds and you can react lightning fast: party 1 is dying… no matter what you currently have targeted, mouse wheel up and immediately cast a heal. Nothing else comes close to such a setup

dont need frames, just need loud 90s rock music and motivation.

Bulls*, there is a lot of things you can do.

First of all, if you don’t want to change anything about your current setup, you could make a WA that puts a big border around your targeted frame, points a huge arrow at it or w.e else, as a quick fix.

Another thing you can try to dabble in is dynamic macros. For this you will need an addon like “Macro Auto Target” or simply write your own addon, for your own specific needs, but I’m assuming that is something you are unable to do, otherwise you would not be asking this question here. :face_in_clouds:

If you can specify the solution you would like to implement, I can give you better advice.

So i would like a glowing aura around which frame ive selected with my mousewheel.

This is something I did in 2 mins real quick, dunno if it works, you will have to test it. Also you will have to adjust the size of the glow to your frames.

cheers dude!
