Advice re: abuse of economy

Hi guys.

So over a week ago i was questing in Azsuna and i had a whisper that I’d commited some sort of economy abuse. I tried to respond to the person who spoke to me but they were offline, obviously I hadn’t spotted it straight away. The strange thing is it was re Dragonflight which I dont play. I don’t play with others, I’m not even in a guild or anything. So I know I haven’t offended a guild member or anything. I don’t sell at the auction house so I’m sure I’ve not made a mistake in that regard. I did some reading thro the forums trying to figure this out and seen some talk about some people doing software advantage that got them into trouble and I know jack about the tech stuff so I know it nothing like that. Ive ALSO been thro the policy t&c’s and sure I’ve not stepped out of line.

I was wondering if it could be a scam? But it said gm. I did message blizzard but didnt hear back. Has anyone heard about this for a game they don’t play? Any advice would be helpful to shed some light on the situation so I can stop flapping lol

TIA

Sian

it is a scam that leads you a website called dragonflightbattlenett something something. never click on the links they send . blizzard would never whisper you in-game. i’ve got 3 pms like that in the last week

Aw thank you so much for the info.

I was really worried I’d f’d up somewhere and didn’t realise. Your a star

Blizzard don’t whisper you in game!! It was a scammer trying to get you to click on a link.

If you clicked any links please make sure to run a virus scan and change your password and make sure you have the authenticator on your account.

Any in game contact from blizzard comes via a separate and distinct box in the top right of the screen near the minimap and is usually in response to tickets, thanking you for reports or asking for feedback from tickets.

Any account actions will be notified to your email and never in game. They will never ask you to click a link to an external website or provide your login info.

Im very careful to never click unknown links and always go back to the source for veri. Thank you

for future concerns, check your e-mail , if it’s something from blizzard , they’ll send it to your e-mail address from their verified addresses

They whisper you :stuck_out_tongue:
When you have an open ticket.

Sounds like a scam alright, especially if they send you a link. Admittedly I fell for a scam like this years ago when I first started WoW and I got hacked and banned, but thankfully I was able to get my account back after I sent a ticket of appeal to Blizzard, and they also told me that 1.) official Blizzard mods would have the Blizzard logo next to their name and 2.) mods almost never message players about these kinds of things in-game.

Been years for me even if I’m online. All I get is a reply in the ticket, been like 4-5 years since I actually had a GM whisper me about a ticket.

It is just scam, Blizzard stuff never contact you ingame. Unless you wrote ticket previously, also there is Blizzard logo in the chat so that way you know it is legit. Do not open links, websites send form random scammers, they tell stuff like your account is suspicous, etc.

This. And
3.) they have proper wow-type names, not some weird version of ‘blzzerd’

A legit chat with someone from blizzard should look like this:

Pay special attention to the name, it’s usually a badly mispelt version of Blizzard.

I wish they came back , just waiting ages for a copy and paste response is such poor customer service and feels so cheap.
